On the evening of July 20 (local time) in Jakarta (Indonesia), the Vietnam U23 team entered a training session to prepare for the match with Cambodia U23 on July 22.
The group of players who played many minutes in the match against U23 Laos only participated in light jogging exercises to recover, while the players who played less were divided into two opposing teams to maintain their ball feeling.
During most of the training session, coach Kim Sang-sik closely monitored each player throughout the session. He directly communicated tactics, demonstrated how to move to break the offside trap, and practiced passing and shooting.
At this training session, striker Nguyen Dinh Bac had just practiced for a few minutes when he suddenly suffered an injury and had to leave the training ground alone with the doctors.
It is known that Dinh Bac's injury is not too serious, this player only suffered muscle overload and can return to practice with the team in the next practice session to prepare for the match against U23 Cambodia.
U23 Vietnam had a smooth start when they won 3-0 against U23 Laos in the opening match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament and only needed a draw with U23 Cambodia to win the group and advance to the semi-finals.
Coach Kim Sang-sik said that U23 Vietnam has only played one match and needs to focus on each match.
“We need to focus on ourselves, we need to play as we have practiced and as planned. That is the important thing,” the Korean strategist said.
