On Telegram, Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hanna Maliar said that Ukrainian forces did not lose any positions in the city of Bakhmut, confirming that the Ukrainian army had advanced 2 km on the Bakhmut front.

"Our defenders have advanced 2 km towards Bakhmut. We have not lost any positions in Bakhmut this week," said Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar.

According to the Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister, the "real situation" is that Russian fighters did not "fulfill their plans" and "suffered great losses."

Ms Hanna Maliar also said the Russian private mercenary group Wagner - which is leading the attack around Bakhmut - had given "false information" about a lack of weapons to "justify the real situation" around the besieged city.

The Russian Defense Ministry on May 11 denied reports that Ukrainian forces had made breakthroughs in several places along the front line and said the military situation was under control. "The general situation in the area of special military operations is under control," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Ukraine is reportedly planning a counterattack. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country's military needed more time to prepare for the attack. He said the much-anticipated counterattack against Russian troops was delayed in part due to a lack of weapons and armor.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has been going on for more than a year and there is no end in sight. The West continues to pump weapons into Ukraine to fight against Russia. Russia believes that the decision of the US and NATO countries to supply weapons to Ukraine makes negotiations between Russia and Ukraine “meaningless”.

Russia has repeatedly accused the US and its allies of deliberately trying to prolong the conflict, warning the West not to provide weapons to Ukraine, stressing that this would only escalate the conflict and cause unnecessary casualties without changing the situation of the war.
