High technology application: Increased productivity, superior product quality

The application of high technology (UDCNC) in agricultural production has helped farmers stabilize production in recent times. Productivity and product quality have increased, leading to increased profits for farmers.

Many effective high-tech models

The UDCNC melon garden of Ms. Pham Thi Tho's family (Long Tan commune, Long Dat district) has brought high economic profits for many years, helping her family have a stable income. Each year, her family grows 4 crops of melon, with a total output of about 420 tons, earning over 2 billion VND.

Ms. Tho said that in 2018, she experimented with growing melons in 2 greenhouses with an automatic irrigation system. The nutrition and humidity during the growing process were also carefully calculated and suitable. Thanks to that, the melon garden gave good results. Currently, Ms. Tho has developed 15 greenhouses for growing melons (investment cost of about 5 billion VND), the greenhouse system will be used for about 3-5 years.

“Growing melons in greenhouses has minimized insect attacks as well as the effects of weather, especially during the rainy season. The automatic irrigation system in the greenhouse is strictly controlled from water quality to the amount of water for the plants. When plants get sick, treating plants in greenhouses is also simpler, and does not spread to other gardens. Thanks to that, the harvested melon yield is stable, with better quality than traditional production that depends on soil and nature,” said Ms. Tho.

In 2021, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tung (Toc Tien commune, Phu My city) started producing oyster mushrooms, Thai oyster mushrooms, etc. In order for the mushrooms to grow well and minimize the risk of diseases, Mr. Tung boldly invested in the UDCNC greenhouse system. This method helps him control the environment, temperature, humidity, light, etc., thereby helping the mushrooms grow more evenly, more productively, with better quality, and bringing higher economic efficiency.

According to Mr. Tung, the UDCNC mushroom growing method helps increase output by 25-30% and price by 10-15% compared to the traditional method. Currently, Mr. Tung has 5 houses growing abalone mushrooms and Thai oyster mushrooms, averaging about 600,000 bags per crop. The daily harvest output is 500-700kg of fresh mushrooms, distributed to vegetarian restaurants and Binh Dien wholesale market ( Ho Chi Minh City). After deducting expenses, he earns a profit of about 600 million VND/crop.

Increase agricultural production value

Project 04-DA/TU of the Provincial Party Committee on developing high-tech agriculture in the period of 2022-2025 has been initially implemented, promoting the development of agriculture and rural areas in the province. According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, as of May 2025, the whole province has 527 UDCNC crop, livestock and aquaculture production facilities. For crop cultivation, the applied technologies are greenhouses, net houses, water-saving irrigation systems combined with automatic nutrient regulation... For livestock farming, farmers use cold, multi-storey barns, imported parent breeds, livestock farming according to VietGAP process, application of microorganisms in waste treatment, application of biological bedding...

The aquaculture sector has a modern water supply and wastewater treatment system. Water is treated and reused in a closed loop, without discharge into the environment. The main forms of farming are in floating ponds, round ponds lined with tarpaulins and roofs, in greenhouses, greenhouses, etc.

Not only is the technology diverse, the value of UDCNC agricultural products also increases year by year. In 2024, the value of UDCNC agricultural products will reach nearly 23 trillion VND, accounting for nearly 46% of the total value of the agricultural sector. UDCNC production has helped establishments take the initiative in the crop season, increase the number of production crops per year, control pests, agricultural input materials, product quality, etc. At the same time, it increases the linkage from cultivation to product consumption. Therefore, the production value is greatly increased compared to conventional production.

In 2025, the province will continue to inform and promote the application of digital technology to enterprises and farmers in agricultural production; survey the technology system applied in high-tech agricultural zones and enterprises to guide certification. Along with that, the province will support enterprises in preparing dossiers for regional certification and high-tech enterprise certification; effectively implement policies to support enterprises investing in agriculture and rural areas, especially in the field of preserving and processing agricultural products, etc.
