Teenagers and children practice under the guidance of coaches at the Nghi Son Town Community Football Center.
In order to have a sustainable football movement and a strong team, youth training must be given special attention. Implementing the Project "Developing community football in Thanh Hoa province for the period 2021-2025", Nghi Son town community football center was established in 2021, with the task of promoting the development of the football movement, building community football satellites in the northern coastal area of the province. In recent times, the center has operated effectively and has also achieved remarkable achievements.
Currently, the center has 1 manager and 7 coaches. The center focuses on human resource training with the criteria of standardizing the team of coaches, referees and collaborators. Every year, this team participates in specialized training courses on coaching, refereeing, organizing and developing community football organized by the Thanh Hoa Football Federation.
Currently, the center has 8 satellites in wards and communes and 3 locations for gifted classes. Every year, the center has about 500 students participating in training. The modern artificial turf field system, with lighting systems and convenient equipment for both training, education and community football practice. The center's satellite community football facilities maintain regular activities during the summer and during the school year, creating a useful playground, meeting the passion, interests and needs of training to improve the health of teenagers and children.
Mr. Dao Duy Nam, manager of Nghi Son Town Community Football Center, said: “The center is professionally organized from purchasing costumes, clothes, preparing training tools and a team of coaches who meet the standards of the Vietnam Football Federation. The center has a shuttle bus to pick up students from communes and wards to practice at the center. Tuition fees for students are also reasonable compared to the general level of other community football clubs and training centers across the country. Socialization work is done well, helping to operate stably and regularly. The professionalism of the center helps students have the best training conditions.”
With 2 football classes, including: community class for children from 7 to 14 years old and gifted class for children with talent, technique, and higher level, it has contributed to maintaining stability and improving the quality of community classes. At the same time, there are conditions for key investment for gifted and talented children to form teams to participate in provincial tournaments.
The "boost" from youth football tournaments such as the provincial community football festival, the sports tournament organized bythe education sector and especially the Thanh Hoa Newspaper Children's Football Tournament from 2022 to present has contributed to creating a playground to "keep the fire burning" for the movement, while "giving wings" to young football talents the opportunity to compete, accumulate "battlefields", gain experience, prove themselves and mature. At the same time, through tournaments, young talents are discovered to continue to train more focused. Every year, Nghi Son town contributes 3-4 talented, quality players to the U9 and U11 Viet Hung Thanh Hoa teams, representing the province to participate in annual national tournaments.
At the 4th Thanh Hoa Newspaper Children's Football Tournament - 2025 Long Son Cement Cup recently, the U10 team of Nghi Son town won the championship, while the U8 team won the runner-up position. Thereby, it affirmed the top position of Nghi Son town community football on the map of community football in the whole province.
Thanks to the successful implementation of the Project "Developing community football in Thanh Hoa province for the period 2021-2025", Nghi Son town community football center and Mr. Dao Duy Nam, the center manager, also received a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
Not only is Nghi Son town strong in developing community football for teenagers and children, the general football movement of Nghi Son town is also developing quite strongly. The whole town has more than 100 recognized grassroots football clubs, maintaining regular activities, attracting thousands of players of different ages and subjects to participate. Wards and communes in the area organize annual tournaments, Nghi Son town maintains the traditional football tournament for clubs in the area (Nghi Son League) with increasingly professional and quality scale and organization methods.
Vice President and General Secretary of Thanh Hoa Football Federation, Pham Cam Hung said: "Community football activities, especially for teenagers and children in Nghi Son town, are taking place strongly with systematic and professional methods. Nghi Son's reality has proven that if we do a good job of training young people, developing good football models, and organizing good community football activities, it will create a driving force to help the province's football movement grow in the future."
