Yen Bai - The People's Committee of Van Yen district ( Yen Bai ) has just directed the district's Department of Natural Resources and Environment to coordinate with the People's Committee of Xuan Ai commune to strictly handle the case of illegal mineral exploitation.
Recently, an inspection team led by Mr. Nguyen Van Thuc - Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Ai Commune, Van Yen (Yen Bai) made a record and collapsed a mine tunnel in an illegal mineral mining area.
According to the case file, at the land of Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang (in Nghia Lac village, Xuan Ai commune), the local authorities discovered a group of strangers digging tunnels and illegally exploiting minerals. At the scene, the Commune People's Committee made a record, requested to immediately stop the mining activities, and reported to the District People's Committee for handling.
On March 6, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Yen district signed a document requesting the commune government to inspect and strictly handle violations and report to the District People's Committee before March 10.
On March 7, the People's Committee of Xuan Ai commune inspected the above-mentioned remediation. At the time of inspection, the machinery and vehicles had stopped operating. However, in the land area of Mr. Nguyen Chi Giap (residing in Yen Thanh village, Yen Hop commune), there were still recorded acts of illegal land leveling and land destruction.
In the leveling area, many areas of black soil and rocks were discovered, suspected to be coal minerals, so a record was made requesting to stop leveling and destroying the land, and prohibiting illegal mining and transportation out of the area.
In the following days, despite the government's ban, when present at Mr. Hoang and Mr. Giap's land, reporters recorded that illegal mineral exploitation still occurred.
On May 9, speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuc - Chairman of Xuan Ai Commune said that after receiving the feedback, the commune had established an inspection team. The authorities directly mobilized machinery to collapse the illegal coal mine and level the ground.
At the same time, the authorities drew up a record of administrative fines for violations in the field of land against two landowners, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang and Mr. Nguyen Chi Giap, for digging and leveling the ground, causing terrain deformation. The two individuals were required to remedy and restore the current state of the land.
Speaking further with reporters, the leader of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Van Yen district said that illegal coal miners are people who come from other places and then hire people to do the work, so it is very difficult for local authorities to manage and control.
In the coming time, local authorities will coordinate with relevant agencies to thoroughly handle cases, promptly prevent illegal mining, leveling and destruction of land in the area.
