Coming to Dien Bien today is coming to the red addresses from the Muong Phang Campaign Command Headquarters to Hill A1, De Castries Bunker, Victory Monument; National Martyrs' Cemeteries, Muong Thanh Bridge, Pha Din Pass; Victory Museum... But the most memorable thing is to see with your own eyes : The panorama painting "Dien Bien Phu Battle" at the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum. This is considered one of the largest paintings in the world on the theme of war, attracting tourists to Dien Bien Phu on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
The work "The Battle of Dien Bien Phu" is 132m long, 20.5m high (including the dome on the 2nd floor of the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum) with the adjacent dome representing clouds and sky, creating a painting with a surface area of up to 3,250m². The painting is displayed on the entire inner surface of the Dien Bien Phu Museum, a cylindrical building with a diameter of 42m. With more than 4,500 characters and the Northwest mountain and forest landscape, it is recreated realistically and vividly through the talented brushwork of nearly 200 artists in about 2 and a half years. The stages of the campaign are shown continuously, combined with raised blocks and many war items arranged reasonably, creating a space that is both real and virtual, making a strong impression on everyone who admires this masterpiece.
The Dien Bien Phu victory on May 7, 1954 is a "golden milestone" in the history of the Vietnamese people's struggle against foreign invaders; marking the miraculous progress of the Vietnamese people in the Ho Chi Minh era; a symbol of national strength combined with the strength of the times; the result of the efforts and persistent struggle of our entire army and people, under the leadership of the Party, headed by the great President Ho Chi Minh.
This is a meticulously invested and magnificent work of art and is considered a priceless asset, preserving historical and traditional values for future generations.
