(Dan Tri) – Emotion and national pride are common feelings of many people when facing the call to "turn every roof into a national flag" towards the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day.

This year, many other trends also spread good national values such as covering the melody of the song Trong Com , "Wattpad Says" or drawing pictures of heroes saving people in fires.

Paint the national flag on the roof

In recent days, across social media platforms, Vietnamese people have joined the trend of painting the national flag on their roofs. On many forums, posts introducing this trend have attracted thousands of interactions. Videos tagged with the hashtags #cotoquoc, #vecotoquoc… on TikTok have received great attention and are constantly being shared.

The person who started the above meaningful trend is Le Quang Vu (29 years old), currently living in Tam Duong district, Vinh Phuc province. After finishing building a house for his parents, seeing the red corrugated iron roof, he came up with the idea of drawing a 5-pointed yellow star on top, creating the shape of a national flag with an area of 150 square meters.

To get the drawing to the right proportions, the young man had to calculate and measure on the computer, then use a flycam (unmanned aerial vehicle) to align the angle so that the star was straight and beautiful. He recorded a video of the process and posted it on his personal page, quickly attracting 3 million views.

After just one night, this wave spread strongly. Since the end of July, many people responded to the idea of “hanging” a flag on the roof of their house with the desire to express patriotism, national pride and celebrate National Day September 2.

People in many provinces and cities from Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Hanoi to Da Nang, Ninh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City... have painted on the tiled roofs and fibro-cement roofs of their families. Some others have even painted the national flag on rolling doors and house walls...

Many netizens commented that this is the most meaningful trend they have ever seen and will become a beautiful image to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day.

According to sociologists, the main reason why this trend is becoming more and more popular is because it appeals to the national pride and patriotism of the people, especially the younger generation. This is the right way to catch the trend and needs to be widely replicated.

Cultural researcher, Dr. Nguyen Anh Hong (Academy of Journalism and Communication) noted that when responding to the trend, people need to carefully study the color, size, and position of the flag, so that this movement is not just temporary, but has depth, expressing many values (Photo: Le Quang Vu, Ngoc Hien).

Cover of the melody "Drum Rice"

In the program "Anh trai vu ngan cong gai" (The Brother Who Overcame Thousands of Difficulties) broadcast on VTV in early August, the "talents" of two generations, People's Artist Tu Long, Soobin Hoang Son and Cuong Seven, had a "feverish" performance of " Drum Rice ".

The familiar Vietnamese folk song was uniquely remixed, combining traditional elements such as Northern folk songs, drum beats, and monochords. This performance quickly entered the trending music list on YouTube, attracting 4.3 million views after two weeks.

In this performance, Soobin Hoang Son received a "shower of compliments" when he sang well and played the monochord with "passion".

Inspired by that, many young people on TikTok have shown off their talent in covering the melody of Trong Com with traditional musical instruments such as the monochord, zither, moon lute, pipa, erhu, fiddle, bamboo flute, etc. In addition, some also use violins and guitars to perform.

On his personal page, Soobin Hoang Son expressed his pride when young people recreated his monochord playing part creatively with many different instruments. That shows that young people have been and are devoting their love and seriously pursuing traditional music, joining hands to spread the beautiful melodies of traditional instruments.

“Wattpad said”

Instead of direct statements, many young people learn to speak more flowery and implicitly through the trend of “Wattpad Speaks”. This trend has been popular since July, popular on Threads (an application launched in 2023, allowing sharing of short content and ideas in text form).

Gen Z (those born between 1997 and 2021) are at the forefront of this trend. Basically, people will quote a favorite sentence or paragraph, but instead of expressing it in the usual way, they will use diverse words, making it more beautiful and emotional.

In addition, the two contrasting sentences “Wattpad doesn’t say” and “Wattpad says” in the post made the online community interested and curious. For example, Wattpad did not say: “I’m married”. Wattpad said: “The empty ring finger of 20 years suddenly has an additional piece of jewelry, gently embracing the second half of my life”.

The appeal of the “Wattpad says” trend lies in the way a simple sentence is expressed in a romantic, meaningful way (Photo: @september__30, @cogidenoikhong).

Not only romantic love content, but also quotes about regret and heartache are also well received by young people. In fact, Wattpad is not a celebrity. It is an application for both famous and amateur writers to post their stories. Readers can also interact with the content created by the author.

Many young people said that they love Vietnamese and literature more thanks to this trend when they realize the diversity and romantic aspect of the language.

Painting to honor heroes who saved people in fires

In the serious fire that occurred at a boarding house on Trung Kinh Street (Trung Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi) in the early morning of May 24, Dong Van Tuan (born 2003, Nam Dinh), Hoang Anh Tuan (born 2003, Nam Dinh) and Pham Quoc Luat (born 1989, Ha Tinh) were praised for helping each other rescue many victims from danger.

The online community was moved when watching the video of Dong Van Tuan – a technology driver – standing shirtless on a wooden ladder, one hand holding onto the iron bar of the window, the other hand using a sledgehammer to continuously hit the wall to rescue the trapped person. When the young man was exhausted, Pham Quoc Luat climbed up to replace him and delivered the final hammer blows, while Hoang Anh Tuan held the ladder below.

Overwhelmed with admiration for the three “heroes” who had bravely and selflessly acted, netizens continuously recreated their moments through drawings and spread them as a deep gratitude. “Not all heroes wear capes”, “In Vietnam, you can meet heroes wherever you go”… are some of the emotional comments.

Anyone can become a “hero”, from people doing the most ordinary jobs, when they are ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Time passes but these beautiful images remain forever in the mind.
