In this exhibition, artist Nguyen Thu Ha introduces 38 paintings, including works that were once loved in Hanoi along with a series of new creations full of color, emotion and contemplation.
At her first exhibition in Hanoi, the artist brings quiet dialogues. Each painting tells a story of joy, sadness, loneliness, and even faith revived through subtle layers of color.

Returning to painting after 20 years, artist Nguyen Thu Ha has devoted herself to watercolor, a material that seems soft and fragile but requires strict discipline. Perhaps even she herself cannot explain why she is so passionate about it... she only knows that in each portrait, she is able to live fully with her emotions, to dialogue with herself and with the character through each line, shade, and fragile boundary.

A year after the first exhibition, when Nguyen Thu Ha’s works were introduced to the public, she felt more clearly the power and depth of her chosen genre. Every moment of doubt, every anxiety was transformed into inspiration, into inner peace.

Over the year, many new works were born, more complete than the original portrait series, forming a clearer path for the artist, a path in which watercolors became the means for her to convey her thoughts, emotions and deep sympathy with life.

From Hanoi, Nguyen Thu Ha's artistic journey continues in Ho Chi Minh City, a completely different emotional space. If in Hanoi, the watercolor portraits unfold like a silent dialogue between the artist and himself, then in this city, the works are illuminated in a new light - where viewers, in the hustle and bustle of urban life, have the opportunity to stop to listen to a slow breath, to see themselves in the eyes of strangers.

Bringing stories from the highlands, from memories, from lands where people are still attached to nature and primitive emotions, artist Nguyen Thu Ha brings to Ho Chi Minh City a journey back into the heart, between the bright streets and the endless cycles.

38 works, including those that were once popular in Hanoi and many new creations, were rearranged by her in a simple and concise spatial structure. Using soft but challenging watercolors, Nguyen Thu Ha tells stories of people, of emotions, of beautiful things from the soul...

The artist hopes that viewers will find something new from the creator's inner energy and encounter themselves in a look, a smile, or a fragile line, where emotions become tangible, where life is preserved by the breath of watercolor.

At this exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Thu Ha decided to invite the prototypes to appear directly in the opening, creating a vivid experiential moment, helping the audience to directly confront the people and faces that have become the inspiration for each portrait.
Painter Nguyen Thu Ha graduated from Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts in 2002, but it wasn't until the end of 2021 that she truly "returned" to painting, opening a new chapter full of passion and courage.

Before this exhibition, in July 2023, she and 19 Vietnamese artists participated in the exhibition "Southern Wind - Vietnamese Fine Arts Today" in Ulanbator (Mongolia); in November 2024, she introduced the solo exhibition "Watercolor Portraits - Reflections through Mirrors" in Hanoi, an important milestone affirming the strong return of an artist who lives life to the fullest with passion.
The exhibition "Watercolor Portraits - Reflections through Mirrors" will take place from November 22-20 at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, promising to open up delicate and emotional artistic experiences.
