From policies and available advantages from nature and cultural identity, some villages in Huong Khe (Ha Tinh) are gradually forming community tourism models that both bring economic efficiency and contribute to preserving traditional values.

In the summer of 2023, Tien Waterfall (Khe Tay) became a hot keyword on mass media and social networks. The majestic waterfall image and traditional dishes of Phu Lam villagers (Phu Gia commune) made a good impression on tourists inside and outside the province.

In addition, the village has many types of trees and animals such as: oranges, guavas, dried wild bananas, wild banana flowers, fresh bamboo shoots, dried bamboo shoots, tea, hill chickens, wild pigs, stream fish ... which are popular with many people. With the desire to do tourism, when there is a policy from all levels, we agree, enthusiastically mobilize to renovate the garden area, livestock barns, innovate production methods, and are ready to cooperate in building a tourist destination model. My family has just completed a stilt house to serve tourists. Many villagers have also begun to form economic models such as raising wild ducks, wild pigs, and bamboo rats to serve culinary needs. Many households have also planned vegetable growing areas, including wild vegetables such as Rau Tau Bay, Rau Dun...”

Along with Phu Lam village, Huong Khe has many beautiful places and landscapes with potential for community tourism development. According to Mr. Nguyen Van My - Chairman of the Board of Members of Lua Viet Tours Company Limited (Ho Chi Minh City), Huong Khe has Vu Mon waterfall and Tien waterfall in the top "five famous waterfalls of Vietnam".

Along with that is the relic complex of Cong Dong Temple - Son Phong Ham Nghi Citadel - Tram Lam Temple (Phu Gia Commune); special national historical relic of the Forward Command Headquarters of the General Department of Logistics, Group 559, 500 (Huong Do Commune); Rooc Con relic (Phu Phong Commune); War relics of Huong Phuc Secondary School (Huong Trach Commune)...

A group of more than 40 tourists from Bac Giang province visited and experienced Phu Lam village during the recent April 30 and May 1 holidays.

The locality also has tea hills, rubber forests, hydroelectric lakes and many new rural green roads... Along with that, traditional festivals of ethnic minorities are attractive cultural features for tourists. Especially the potential of the "tourism resource triangle": waterfall - King Ham Nghi's treasure - Agarwood.

From the unique potential and culture of the indigenous people, the Resolution of the 30th Congress of the Party Committee of Huong Khe district, term 2020-2025, identified one of the breakthrough contents as: Exploiting the potential of culture, history, and ecology to develop services and tourism.

Mr. Tran Quoc Bao - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee said that, realizing the resolution, in recent times, the government and people of Huong Khe have focused resources on repairing, upgrading, and building new historical and cultural relics, developing spiritual tourism; building destinations for tourists to visit and experience such as: a museum of agricultural tools with more than 500 ancient agricultural and living tools preserved and displayed in Huong Binh commune; a village making products from agarwood in Phuc Trach commune; Phuc Trach grapefruit farms, Khe May oranges, and agarwood gardens; check-in points for tea hills and rubber forests associated with the NTM experience in Huong Tra commune; a place to welcome visitors to Phu Lam village, admire Tien waterfall, and see King Ham Nghi's treasures in Phu Gia commune... From there, tours and tourist routes to visit and experience red addresses, historical and cultural relics combined with experiential tourism have been gradually formed...

Experts from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and representatives from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism surveyed tourism in Huong Khe district last July.

Huong Khe District also actively cooperates with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to invite qualified experts to survey, advise, orient and connect tours and routes; attract investors such as Vingroup Corporation; Sungroup Corporation, Hong Lam Xuan Thanh Joint Stock Company to survey investment.

In particular, the locality coordinated with the Vietnam Community Tourism Consulting Company (VIET NAM CBT) to survey all destinations in the district and continue to coordinate to develop a project to develop district tourism. It is known that Phu Lam village alone was selected as one of three pilot models of community tourism in Ha Tinh province.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Thuong, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Huong Khe district, said that the locality has determined that community tourism must focus on using local materials and labor; applying digital transformation solutions; mobilizing the participation of women, the poor, ethnic minorities, and disadvantaged people to improve the lives and incomes of the people.

The locality is organizing training courses to improve communication skills, tourism expertise, and food preparation skills; organizing tours and learning experiences in other localities. At the same time, supporting and guiding a number of homestay businesses to serve tourists; synchronously investing in equipment to preserve and promote the cultural identity of ethnic minorities.

In the coming time, the locality will support households to expand the scale of harvesting and develop typical products to serve tourists. Along with that, support the preservation, restoration and development of craft villages, cuisine, traditional costumes and agricultural activities, cultural and sports performances... in localities with potential. Restore the production model of traditional and specialty products. Strengthen links in tourism business activities with other localities and with travel agencies...
