1. Twenty years have passed so quickly, but it may seem slow to many people. Coming back to Tay Giang, I can see that it has been both fast and slow if I look at the truly convincing changes. The first time I went to Tay Giang, the trip to 4 communes of zone 7 had to stop halfway up the T'coong mountain range, staying at a small village next to a stream.

Now, it is possible to go anywhere conveniently. Slow, is in the expectation of early wealth and happiness. We had to wander around for quite a while to find Arec village, A Vuong commune, the lowest commune of Tay Giang. From A Vuong 1 bridge, we followed the A Vuong river to the village right at noon.

The first feeling was heat. The early summer heat was blazing hot on the steamy tin roofs. There was not a tree in sight. Oh, I suddenly remembered the lyrics of a song that says when you see trees, you see forests. The houses were leaning against a mountain range, more accurately called hills, there were still tree shadows but there was no cool green color of the mountains and forests.

Old Binh told us to go up to the mirror to cool off. Well, this mirror was the only one with a roof made of palm leaves, so it was a bit cooler. The palm leaves had holes in many places, and the sunlight shone through the mirror floor, but it still created a cool space.

The girls said it was too hot, so at noon they often went up to the gươl to avoid the heat, bringing the children along. It was then that we realized that the previous generation had made a great choice when building the gươl. I remember, at the end of the meeting, before parting, old man Binh asked the writers if there was any way to help the village re-roof the gươl because according to him, the village had run out of palm leaves to use for thatching.

I asked a poet in the group who was also a construction specialist. He said that a small roof with water coconut leaves could last for about three years at most. If it was covered with water coconut leaves, it would be more durable but very expensive, difficult to find materials and seemed beyond the group's ability.

For lunch, the village treated the group to stream fish and food made from cassava. The fish had just been caught by the women from the A Vuong River flowing through the village and fried to a golden brown. There was also sticky rice with cassava. Other foods made from cassava: cassava cooked with stream fish, soup with chopped cassava leaves, etc.

And wine, both ginseng wine and Morinda officinalis wine, a specialty of Tay Giang. It was hot so everyone mainly ate the herbs, although the village elder enthusiastically offered them. If only the village had more shade trees…

2. The most obvious change of Tay Giang after 20 years is that the traffic works, offices, schools, houses, markets... have been built quite completely. There has been a very clear "change of life". And an open direction for the district through tourist facilities, from Ta Lang community village to Aroh, Por'ning to Dinh Que, Loc Troi.

Tay Giang has become a special destination on the national tourism map. Through the connection of two poets Ploong Plenh and Hai Dieu, thanks to the help of the district, we had time to experience the brocade weaving craft in Aroh village, Dang commune; and listened to the excellent artisan Briu Po perform his own musical instruments to express the calls of birds and animals.

Sitting right on the stairs of the Aroh village, he also told stories about the “Mother of the Forest”, long stories like a dry narrative of Tay Giang. The power outage accidentally made the mountainous area have a rather interesting, deep silence.

The exchange between the group of writers of the Literature Association under the Provincial Literature and Arts Association and the group of photographers of Quang Ngai in the dimness of dusk on the Por'ning village's gươl yard again highlighted the uniqueness of the mountains and forests. The fire night with the exciting and captivating tang tung da da dance around the gươl yard left an unforgettable impression.

Besides the purpose of going on field trips to write, the group of writers also participated in the program to experience activities on National Book Day with teachers and students of Tay Giang High School.

In addition to the books mobilized from members and money donated to the school by poor students, the delegation also participated in the Reading Festival program and learned about the cultural space of Vietnamese ethnic groups with the theme:

“Books and culture of Vietnamese ethnic groups” for teachers and students in mountainous areas, in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, April 21. Rich content, including a dance performance competition of students of all grades.

In the warm space of the mirror in the school yard, artisans guide the children to practice weaving and listen to the excellent artisan Briu Po tell traditional stories of the beloved Tay Giang land.

According to Ms. Aral Mai Tinh - Principal of Tay Giang High School, the organization of the experience of the tan tung da da dance for the students was carried out on a large scale and lasted for many months.

Through the festival, the reading culture is “activated” among teachers and students of the school; at the same time, honoring the values of books and the current reading movement. These practical activities have attracted the participation of the majority of students and have become an extremely valuable cultural feature of Co Tu students.

The materials through the practical penetration are gradually being transformed into literary works by writers and poets along with the daily development of Tay Giang.
