BHG - Due to its large area and strongly fragmented terrain, the conditions for medical examination and treatment in remote areas of Vi Xuyen district are still limited. In recent times, along with sending doctors to communes, investing in facilities and equipment to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment at commune health stations, the district has consolidated, trained and improved the quality of activities of the village and hamlet medical staff (NVYTTB). This is the "bridge" of the health sector in helping people access health policies and programs; access health services right at the grassroots level, and raise people's awareness of health care protection.

The task of the NVYTTB is to perform primary health care and other medical expertise including: Propagating and disseminating knowledge to people in villages and hamlets about health protection, improvement, environmental sanitation, food safety, prevention and control of malnutrition, non-communicable diseases and disease prevention and control. Cao Bo commune is a mountainous commune of Vi Xuyen with 11 villages and hamlets. With a large area, the team of NVYTTB here is always dedicated, responsible and devoted to community health care. With the characteristic that the Dao ethnic group accounts for 95% of the total population of the commune, in addition to being fluent in the ethnic language, the team of NVYTTB must also be proficient in the living habits of the people to be able to perform their roles and tasks well. Ms. Ban Thi Hien, a medical staff of Thac Hung village, said: “Through village meetings, I have carried out my duties such as propagating, mobilizing, providing information, and consulting on population work - family planning; making a list of children eligible for vaccination according to regulations; coordinating with the staff of the commune health station to participate in health management of local people, implementing disease prevention and hygiene movements to improve community health”.
Although the area is large, each village and hamlet has only one medical staff. But it is this team that helps the commune health station to promptly grasp the actual situation at the facility as well as promptly provide first aid and initial care for patients right at home. Along with that, with responsibility and passion for the profession, the health workers not only "go to every alley, knock on every door, check every subject" but are also always proactive and active in finding ways to innovate communication methods, diversifying propaganda methods in common language combined with ethnic languages to help people increasingly raise awareness of health care and protection. These are the shares of Ms. Chang Thi Goang, in charge of Cao Bo Commune Health Station, when talking to reporters.
Currently, Vi Xuyen district has 24 communes and towns with a total of 261 groups, villages and hamlets. Of these, 229 villages and hamlets have medical staff, 116 of whom have been trained. To improve the quality of this team's activities, Vi Xuyen has developed a regular training and development program, helping them improve their expertise and skills and update new documents and instructions on health care for the people. Vice Chairman of Vi Xuyen District People's Committee, Dang Thi Phuong affirmed: "The district's health care team has played a good role in protecting and providing initial health care for the people. Therefore, they need to be paid more attention, supported and encouraged both materially and spiritually as well as continue to improve their professional qualifications and skills to better meet the increasingly better needs of health care for the whole population".
Faced with the increasingly complicated disease situation and the increasing number of households to be managed due to the implementation of the merger of communes according to Resolution 18 of the Party Central Committee, term XII on "Continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined, effective and efficient", the construction, consolidation and improvement of the quality of activities of the People's Health Service is very necessary to better meet the needs of public health care.
