BHG - Implementing the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Provincial Border Guard (BĐBP) has promoted its core role, actively supporting the construction of new houses for poor households in the border areas. Solid and sturdy houses help people settle down, find work, and feel secure in production, contributing to strengthening the people's hearts and minds in the border areas of the Fatherland.

The steep hilly terrain and sandy soil prone to landslides make the lives of people in the border communes of Hoang Su Phi district always full of risks during the rainy and stormy seasons. For poor ethnic minority households, having a solid roof is not only a place to live, but also a spiritual support to help people feel secure in the face of natural disasters. The family of Vang Seo Lanh, Lung Chinh Thuong village, Then Chu Phin commune, has 5 members, and used to live in a temporary house made of wooden pillars and earthen walls that were crooked after the rainy and stormy seasons. Understanding that situation, officers and soldiers of Thanh Tin Border Guard Station supported the demolition of the old house, transported materials, dug the foundation, and built a new house. Up to now, Lanh's family has settled in a solid house, 60m² wide, with load-bearing red brick walls and a cold-rolled corrugated iron roof. Mr. Lanh was moved: With the support of 60 million VND from the State and the enthusiastic help of the Border Guard, my family completed the new house after just over 2 months. From now on, we can work and produce with peace of mind together with the Border Guard to protect the border.

Thanh Tin Border Guard Station manages and protects 20.5 km of border line passing through 3 communes: Thanh Tin, Po Lo and Then Chu Phin (Hoang Su Phi). In recent years, in addition to national defense tasks, the unit has actively participated in social security activities in the area. In the period of 2021-2024, the Station mobilized social resources to support the elimination of temporary houses for 23 households in difficult circumstances with a budget of 70 million VND/household. In addition, the unit also donated 10 breeding cows to help families stabilize their livelihoods. Since the beginning of 2025, implementing the movement to eliminate temporary houses, the station and local authorities have started construction and completed 5 new houses in the area. At the same time, contributing over 300 working days with more than 600 officers and soldiers participating in supporting the transportation of materials, leveling the ground, pouring concrete, building walls... creating solid shelters on the border, helping the district soon complete the temporary housing elimination program as planned.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Thai, Political Commissar of Thanh Tin Border Guard Station, shared: Thanks to implementing the motto "3 sticking, 4 together" with the people, officers and soldiers have a firm grasp of each household's situation, and a clear understanding of the terrain and traffic conditions in the area. From there, the unit has advised the locality on many effective and practical ways and solutions to implement the temporary housing elimination program. Most of the families receiving support live far away, so the unit has assigned groups and teams to go directly to the villages to eat, live and work with the people to help complete the new houses soon.

In Dong Van district, there are 89 families eligible for support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses according to the Prime Minister 's call. Of which, the border area managed by 3 Border Guard Stations of Dong Van, Lung Cu and Pho Bang has 41/89 households. These are mainly poor people, ethnic minorities living far from the center, with rugged terrain and difficult transportation. Promoting the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" with the emulation spirit of "Lightning speed - Determination to win", the Border Guard has worked side by side with the local government and organizations to "carry houses up the mountain" for people in the border area. Regardless of the harsh weather and rugged terrain, the soldiers in green uniforms carried bags of cement and carried wooden logs over slopes and over passes to support people in building new houses. As a result, all 41 houses were completed and put into use, bringing joy and excitement to the people in the border area.

Major Nguyen Van Quang, Political Commissar of Pho Bang Border Post, said: “The unit clearly identified that if we want the temporary housing removal program to be on schedule, we must stick with and understand the people. Therefore, in addition to promoting propaganda to raise people's awareness, we also regularly monitor and evaluate the progress and quality of construction. On the basis of firmly grasping the conditions and circumstances of each household, we will proactively advise and closely coordinate with the authorities in implementation.

Of which, 33 houses have been completed with the contribution of 782 working days from more than 1,500 officers and soldiers from 12 Border Guard Stations. Colonel Dao Hong Ha, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command, shared: Ha Giang Border Guard determined that this is not only a political task, but also the sentiment and responsibility of each officer and soldier towards the people in the border areas. With high determination, the units have strived to bring the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses to the finish line early to help people settle down and find work. Each newly built house is not only a shelter from the rain and sun, but also an important contribution to social security, strengthening the people's trust, and ensuring local security and defense.
