The stock market has been constantly fluctuating and falling, causing the assets of many Vietnamese billionaires to decrease sharply, including Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang temporarily leaving the rankings of the world's richest people.

These days, stock investors have witnessed a series of serious declines. Selling pressure is rampant, especially in real estate and retail stocks.

Billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong and Tran Dinh Long's assets fluctuate with stocks

With the above developments, the assets of Vietnamese billionaires have also been greatly affected. According to the ranking of Forbes magazine, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong - Chairman of Vingroup - is holding total assets worth 4.4 billion USD, an increase of 100 million USD compared to the data published at the beginning of the year, but has decreased sharply in the past two months.

At the time when electric car company VinFast debuted on the US stock exchange, the Vietnamese stock market also witnessed a surge in the three "Vin family" stocks including VIC (Vingroup), VHM (Vinhomes) and VRE (Vincom Retail), with investors pouring money into buying them.

However, along with the difficult changes of the general market, the three stocks above then dropped significantly, currently anchored at VND41,500, VND39,200 and VND23,100. Corresponding to a decrease of more than 19%, 33% and 20% in this quarter.

The case of Mr. Tran Dinh Long - Chairman of Hoa Phat Group - is quite special. The "Steel King" entered the billionaire list for the first time 5 years ago, with 1.3 billion USD. However, after that, steel industry stocks continuously fluctuated, causing him to be removed from the list, then returned in 2021, then left at the end of 2022, and recently started to improve.

Mr. Long's total assets are valued by Forbes as of today at 1.9 billion USD, an increase of 100 million USD compared to the beginning of the year. Hoa Phat's HPG shares are currently at 23,000 VND, down 19% in the past quarter.

With the Government continuously promoting public investment and a series of large projects being implemented, many experts predict that the steel industry will have a chance to recover by the end of this year or early next year.

Not only operating in the field of automobile assembly and production - Thaco, billionaire Tran Ba Duong also entered the agricultural sector after receiving Hoang Anh Gia Lai Agrico (HNG) from Mr. Duc, and at the same time running Emart supermarket...

HNG shares alone are at 3,530 VND, down 15% in the past quarter. The assets of Mr. Duong and his family are at 1.4 billion USD, down 100 million USD compared to the beginning of the year.

Billionaire of Vietjet Air and Techcombank reduces assets

As the only Vietnamese female billionaire on the list of the world's richest people, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - chairwoman of Vietjet Air, owns 2.1 billion USD, down 100 million USD compared to the beginning of the year. On the stock market, VJC shares are trading around 98,000 VND, up 0.2% in the quarter.

In addition to the airline, Ms. Thao also holds important positions at HDBank, Sovico Holdings...

Techcombank Chairman Ho Hung Anh is also one of the typical faces in the top richest Vietnamese people on the planet. He currently has total assets of 1.2 billion USD, down 300 million USD compared to the beginning of the year.

Like many other stocks in the banking group, Techcombank's TCB stock has faced many challenges, recording a decrease of more than 16% within the past quarter, currently anchored at VND28,100.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang temporarily leaves the list of the world's richest people.

According to the list published by Forbes earlier this year, Vietnam has a total of 6 USD billionaires. However, while the 5 billionaires above are still holding on, Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang of Masan Group has just temporarily left. Earlier this year, billionaire Quang still had assets of 1.3 billion USD, ranking among the richest people on the planet for three consecutive years.

The strong fluctuations on the stock market are the main reason for the above change. Specifically, the shares of the "tycoon" of the consumer goods industry are currently anchored in the green at VND58,000, but in the past quarter, they have decreased by 33%.

Thus, the assets of the 5 billionaires currently on the list reached 11 billion USD, down 300 million USD compared to the announcement at the beginning of the year.
