Vietnam hosts first international dancesport tournament

VOV.VN - Vietnam has been officially awarded the right by the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) to simultaneously host the Southeast Asian Championship and the Asian Championship, including the Women's Solo Asian Championship, at the Vietnam Dancesport Festival 2025.

The event will take place from July 9 to 13 at Military Zone 7 Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City. This is the first time Vietnam has organized an international dancesport tournament, marking an important turning point in affirming the position of Vietnamese Dancesport in the international arena.

The tournament, authorized by the Department of Sports and Physical Training and organized by the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation in collaboration with Khanh Thi - KTA King The Art, is expected to attract more than 36 countries and territories, with 4,000 registrations, 3,000 athletes and more than 100 national and international referees participating. This is the largest Dancesport event in Southeast Asia's history, demonstrating the special trust from WDSF and Vietnam's organizational capacity.

Coach Khanh Thi, one of the key figures behind the event, shared: “Vietnamese Dancesport needs a truly professional, systematic step forward, capable of connecting with the world . We not only have talented athletes but also have the ability to organize standard international events. Hosting this tournament is an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its position, gradually becoming the leading Dancesport center in Southeast Asia. I believe that with careful preparation, the Vietnamese team will achieve impressive results, contributing to enhancing the reputation of Dancesport in our country.”

In preparation, the Vietnamese team has undergone intensive training. Coach Khanh Thi led pairs of athletes such as Phan Hien - Thu Huong, Ngoc An - To Uyen to train in Europe, participating in international tournaments in the WDSF system to accumulate points and experience. Meanwhile, coach Chi Anh is in charge of the Standard content, leading athletes such as Trung Thuc - Ngoc Anh, Minh Xuan, Gia Linh to train in China to improve their skills.

Coach Chi Anh commented: “Organizing the Vietnam Dancesport Festival 2025 is a testament to the remarkable development of Vietnamese Dancesport. We are making every effort to help our athletes achieve their best performance. Training in China helps the team get used to the international competition environment and improve their Standard techniques. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to affirm their abilities, while promoting the image of Vietnamese Dancesport to international friends. We are determined to bring home high results.”

This event is not only an opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to compete but also an opportunity to promote Vietnam's culture, tourism and event organization capacity.
