On May 10, within the framework of the program of activities and participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's delegation to attend the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Indonesia, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung had a working session with Indonesian Minister of Communications and Information Johnny G. Plate to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in this field.
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung and Indonesian Minister of Communications and Information Johnny G. Plate exchanged development experiences and directions for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
At the meeting, the two Ministers shared each country's policies and strategies on developing digital infrastructure, accelerating digital transformation to develop the digital economy , digital society and digital government. Vietnam and Indonesia have many similarities in terms of development level, orientations, strategies, goals, policy priorities as well as challenges in state management, especially in building a safe, healthy and trustworthy cyberspace.
The two Ministers also exchanged experiences in universalizing telecommunications services, developing new-generation telecommunications networks, deploying 5G networks, supporting digital technology enterprises, especially digital start-ups, and handling violations of content in cyberspace.
Regarding cooperation between the two countries and the two Ministries in the coming time, the two Ministers agreed to promote cooperation between agencies and enterprises of the two sides, assign relevant units to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for signing this year, towards building a digital partnership between the two countries, more effectively promoting the great potential of the two sides in the field of digital economy and digital society.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung invited Minister Johnny G. Plate to visit Vietnam and attend the ASEAN Ministers on Information (AMRI) hosted by Vietnam in September 2023, and the ASEAN Conference on 5G, an initiative chaired and organized by Vietnam in November 2023. Minister Johnny G. Plate thanked and accepted the invitation to visit and attend the conferences in Vietnam.
