At the regular press conference on August 17, in response to a reporter's question requesting information related to Vietnam sending representatives to participate in the BRICS Summit, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated:

As an active and responsible member of the international community, consistently implementing a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of international relations, Vietnam is always ready to participate and make active contributions to global and regional multilateral mechanisms, organizations and forums.

Like many countries around the world, we are following with interest the progress of discussions on expanding the membership of the BRICS group.

At the 15th BRICS Summit in South Africa on August 24, Vietnam is one of 71 countries invited to attend the Conference.

There are two conferences, the BRICS Africa Summit and the BRICS Dialogue Plus. Vietnam is expected to send representatives to these conferences.

The BRICS Summit, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, on August 22-24.

The agenda of this year's conference is expected to include discussions on trade and investment facilitation, sustainable development, innovation and global governance reform.
