Vietnam – China (Guangdong) promote zero-emission transportation

(HTV) - Ho Chi Minh City aims to have all buses switch to using electricity or environmentally friendly fuel by 2030, information shared by Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong at the Workshop on promoting cooperation between Vietnam and China (Guangdong) in developing electric vehicles and green supply chains.

Speaking at the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong said that with the advantage of population size and the position of the country's economic locomotive, Ho Chi Minh City is a pioneer in clean energy conversion and green transportation. Meanwhile, Guangdong is the leading locality in China in modern industry, especially in the field of electric vehicle production, batteries and green technology. This is a favorable condition for the two sides to build a sustainable cooperation value chain in the electric vehicle industry.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized: "Ho Chi Minh City has identified green transformation as one of the top priorities. The city proposed 5 key cooperation groups including: developing production and assembly of electric vehicles; building charging station infrastructure and technical standards; linking the supply chain of green components - batteries - materials; developing logistics and green industrial parks; cooperating in research, training and innovation, connecting institutes - schools - businesses to develop technology and human resources for new industries".

The Ho Chi Minh City government also pledged to create a favorable, transparent and competitive investment environment, ready to accompany Guangdong and international enterprises in developing electric vehicles and green industry.

Delegates from the two countries followed the content of the thematic discussion session on electric vehicle development and green supply chain.

On the Chinese side, Mr. Truong Quoc Tri - Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province said that Guangdong is currently leading the country in new energy vehicles with an output of more than 3.6 million units in 2024, accounting for 25% of China's total output, and revenue exceeding 1,000 billion yuan.

Mr. Truong Quoc Tri emphasized that Guangdong is promoting exhibitions and events specializing in new energy vehicles, aiming to create a platform to connect businesses on both sides, aiming for a green industrial ecosystem with compatible products, interconnected services and recognized bilateral standards.
