Reporter : From what emotions did you compose the song "Green City"?

- THU THAO: From the love of environmental workers for Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general, as well as the work they are doing, it is also like their love for the streets without garbage, always green. Environmental workers voluntarily love and stick with the job of sweeping garbage because of the practical benefits to the community that their work brings.

- YEN PHUONG: Just look at where we live, if one day there were no dedicated environmental workers, we would be surrounded by garbage. They work silently at night, without needing thanks. From that feeling, we learned about the lives of environmental workers. "Green City" is the song we sing to honor environmental workers.

. It is known that both of you are students of singer Trieu Loc - grandson of the late Meritorious Artist Cong Thanh. How is the process of finding material to write this song related to your teacher?

- YEN PHUONG: We learned vocal music from Mr. Trieu Loc - second prize winner of the Television Singing Contest in 2008. He always encouraged us to observe life to write songs. And we met with environmental workers to talk. Through that, we understood the profession that they were "infatuated with". They said that every time they saw a clean road, saw people enjoying fresh air, they felt happy. They are truly the ones "bringing green" to the city.

- THU THAO: Regarding the music , we found a sympathetic friend Huynh Minh Quan, so he composed the melody, and we wrote the lyrics.

Through this song , what message do you want to send to young people and professionals?

- YEN PHUONG: We want to remind everyone to be more aware of keeping the environment clean. Because people are aware of not littering, it has reduced the hardship and fatigue of environmental workers. The song carries the message of joining hands to protect the environment.

- THU THAO: One special thing, everyone should stop looking down on environmental workers. The song is our conversation about the dream of a city that is always kept green, a homeland in the hearts of the children who work as environmental workers living and working in the city, they may have come here from far away to make a living. To us, they are silent heroes.

You have chosen a writing style that is profound and touches the hearts of listeners. Is that your style of writing?

- YEN PHUONG: The emotions of the song promise to bring moments into every corner of the city's people's minds when they think of environmental workers. We hope the song will convey the feelings of each environmental worker when they think of the city. The small song, the gentle and emotional melody, and the simple lyrics are the genuine emotions that we want to spread...

Coming to the creative campaign of the Lao Dong Newspaper, what do you expect ?

- THU THAO: The great victory of spring 1975 has gone down in history as a brilliant milestone, opening a new period of bright future for the country. This event is a great and strong source of inspiration for musicians, especially since the movement to compose the song "The Country is Full of Joy", aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

Since childhood, we have listened to songs composed by musicians with strong, surging emotions such as "Spring in Ho Chi Minh City" (Xuan Hong), "The Country is Full of Joy" (Hoang Ha), "As if Uncle Ho were here on the day of great victory" (Pham Tuyen)... and we believe that the campaign of the Lao Dong Newspaper will achieve great results with compositions originating from everyone's intense love for the city.

- YEN PHUONG: The image of Ho Chi Minh City filled with green because of the clean and beautiful environment, with flags flying in the spring of great victory is when the people of the city and the whole country share a boundless joy and excitement with bright smiles. Our hope is that the movement will spread and promote so that everyone can sing together and do many good things to contribute to building a civilized, modern and affectionate city.

The name of the song we wrote clearly shows the joy of everyone when our city is forever green. So that from the 50th anniversary, all Vietnamese people will be happy and excited because the whole nation has together gone from one victory to another.

We believe that the songs participating in the composition campaign will be musical melodies from the bottom of our hearts, condensing love and aspiration for the day of national reunification, while joining hands to build the city named after Uncle Ho to become more and more prosperous, modern and affectionate.

The songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" is organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). The Organizing Committee will select the 20 best works for the final round. The final round is expected to take place in February 2025. During the time of receiving works and preliminary screening, the Organizing Committee will select good works to stage and introduce at the 30th Mai Vang Awards ceremony (around January 2025). At the same time, the Organizing Committee will also post the works on the newspaper's social networking platform to introduce to the community.
