Vinh Phuc trains on human rights work in 2023

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Vu Chi Giang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee on Human Rights of Vinh Phuc province, said: In recent times, with the attention and direction of the Central Ministries and branches, especially the Government's Steering Committee on Human Rights, the work of ensuring and fighting for human rights in Vinh Phuc province has been implemented synchronously and effectively; policies and strategies for socio -economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people, especially in the fields of social security, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, freedom of belief and religion, and resolving complaints and denunciations of the people... are increasingly being improved, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of citizens. The work of fighting against activities that take advantage of democracy, human rights, ethnicity and religion has achieved many positive results.

At the conference, delegates listened to the reporter present three topics: Activities that take advantage of ethnic and religious issues to sabotage Vietnam; freedom of speech, freedom of the internet and identifying activities that take advantage of freedom of speech and the internet to sabotage Vietnam; human rights work in the new situation.

Through this, the reporters provided comprehensive information, updated the practical situation of ensuring and fighting for human rights in the current situation; acquired knowledge about ensuring freedom of religion, belief, freedom of speech, freedom of the internet and experiences in the process of fighting to protect human rights.

Major General Nguyen Van Ky, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the Government Human Rights Steering Committee, affirmed that human rights work is the responsibility of the entire political system. Democracy and human rights are still the main directions that Western countries and hostile reactionary forces exploit to exert pressure, promote internal "self-transformation" factors and incite opposition in the context of 2023 being a pivotal year for implementing the duties of a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term, participating in the process of protecting the CERD, ICCPR Conventions and the Universal Periodic Review Mechanism, Cycle IV. In particular, issues of ethnicity, religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the internet, independent trade unions, civil society, etc. will be the issues that hostile and reactionary forces will oppose us. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on implementing both aspects of protecting and fighting for human rights in the following areas: Raising awareness, ensuring the promotion of human rights, information and propaganda on human rights and fighting against plots and activities that take advantage of democracy and human rights issues to sabotage Vietnam.

Human rights work must closely combine "building" and "fighting", maintaining internal stability, developing the socio-economy, ensuring human rights in all political, economic, social and cultural fields to create a solid foundation for the fight against the slanderous and distorted arguments of hostile forces.
