VNPT cooperates with Finland to promote digital infrastructure development and build a safe digital environment

(Chinhphu.vn) - VNPT Group has awarded the contract to develop VNPT's wireless access network in Hanoi, border provinces and the South for the period 2025 - 2026 to Nokia Group; signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation with Finnish security group F-Secure in the field of network security and protecting people from cyber attacks and online fraud.

The handover and signing ceremony was held in Helsinki, Finland, witnessed by General Secretary To Lam and Mr. Matias Marttinen, Minister of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, on October 21.

With the signed contract for developing the wireless access network, VNPT and Nokia will jointly implement the project in the 2025-2026 period, focusing on improving the quality of mobile coverage, especially in border areas and key economic and social centers.

This is a specific step of VNPT in investing and upgrading telecommunications infrastructure, implementing the Party and State's policy on developing national digital infrastructure, serving the goal of comprehensive digital transformation and improving people's quality of life.

Along with expanding infrastructure investment, VNPT continues to focus on improving the quality of telecommunications and digital services, better meeting the information and connection needs of people, authorities and businesses.

This cooperation agreement not only enhances the national digital infrastructure capacity, but also contributes to strengthening the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Finland, especially in the field of information and communication, one of the pillars of strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Nokia is a leading Finnish multinational telecommunications and technology corporation, a pioneer in developing global mobile network standards such as 4G, 5G and new technologies. In Vietnam, Nokia has had a long-term and effective cooperation relationship with VNPT in many fields: mobile information networks, fixed broadband fiber optic networks, transmission networks and Internet of Things (IoT).

This signing event continues to affirm VNPT as Nokia's strategic partner in Vietnam, together aiming at the goal of developing green and modern telecommunications infrastructure, meeting the 5G and 6G era in the future.

On the same day, VNPT and F-Secure Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic cooperation to protect people from cyber attacks and online fraud, and expand cooperation to the ASEAN regional market.

Accordingly, the two sides will jointly carry out many activities in the fields of technology and training, including: sharing intelligence information on cyber threats; organizing training programs and practical training; and improving cybersecurity capacity for VNPT's technical team.

VNPT and F-Secure will also research and test cybersecurity solutions applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), opening up opportunities to commercialize and provide services to the international market.

F-Secure is the world's leading cybersecurity group from Finland with nearly 40 years of experience in providing security solutions to users and organizations in more than 100 countries. VNPT's choice of F-Secure as a partner demonstrates VNPT's strong commitment to protecting users and building a safe and trustworthy digital environment in Vietnam.

Notably, on the same day in Vietnam, VNPT and F-Secure announced the provision of VNPT S-Defender service - a security and anti-online fraud solution integrated with F-Secure's advanced technology. The service helps detect and prevent online fraud, malware, and protect people's digital identities.

The two sides will also continue to research and develop more advanced protection features for individual users, households and small businesses; while ensuring the safety of essential digital services such as e-banking, e-commerce and e-government.

VNPT's extensive cooperation with leading Finnish technology corporations is a testament to Vietnamese enterprises' efforts in connecting global knowledge and bringing advanced technology to serve people and society.

Two important agreements with Nokia and F-Secure not only help VNPT consolidate its position as a leading corporation in digital infrastructure and security, but also actively contribute to the national digital transformation strategy, towards the goal of building Vietnam into a safe, prosperous and sustainable digital nation.
