Martial artist Dao Hong Son: Actively promoting the beauty of traditional wrestling

In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, martial artist Dao Hong Son is still actively training to maintain his physical strength and form. His first goal in 2025 is to participate in wrestling at village festivals in the North, in order to spread the beauty of traditional Vietnamese wrestling.

In early 2024, Dao Hong Son participated in more than a dozen wrestling rings, bringing joy and excitement to many people. The videos he posted about participating in village wrestling were quickly welcomed by fans and became famous on social media platforms.

It is known that the first wrestling festival in 2025 that Dao Hong Son will participate in is the Mai Dong Wrestling Festival, which will be held on the 4th day of Tet. Next, he plans to visit many wrestling arenas in the northern provinces and cities and is ready to compete. Sharing with us, Dao Hong Son expressed: “Participating in the village wrestling festival makes me very happy and excited because the people watch very enthusiastically. I want to devote myself and show the beauty of traditional Vietnamese wrestling.”

According to Dao Hong Son, after the videos of him participating in the wrestling festival were posted on social networks, he received many comments from fans. Many fans in the southern provinces and cities wanted him to participate in more wrestling festivals, because they rarely have the opportunity to watch a traditional wrestling match. That is also the motivation for him to continue participating in wrestling festivals, both to promote the beauty of traditional culture and to earn extra income. “Participating in the village festival, I received many lucky money from fans. Although I wrestle for fun and not to win anything, kind-hearted people are willing to reward me handsomely when I show off my special wrestling moves,” Dao Hong Son shared.

In addition to performing traditional wrestling rituals, Dao Hong Son also created his own way of greeting the audience by turning on the san to bring fun. It is known that all the videos posted on Dao Hong Son's personal page are self-directed and performed by him. Currently, Dao Hong Son's personal Facebook page has nearly 200,000 followers, with many videos reaching millions of views. Dao Hong Son also creates a lot of content, including interesting challenges about strength, the beauty of jujitsu or traditional wrestling; besides, he also earns money from advertising and selling products through the channel, helping to improve the income of athletes.

As a national jujitsu athlete, Dao Hong Son won the gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games - SEA Games in the last two editions. In 2024, he won the Asian silver medal and the national club cup gold medal. Notably, Dao Hong Son participated in the 14th Lion Championship MMA and had a historic victory. It only took him 17 seconds to defeat martial artist Pham Ngoc Canh with locks and chokes - one of the "specialties" of jujitsu.

According to Dao Hong Son, his goal in 2025 is to practice hard to strive for the best results at the 33rd SEA Games , and continue to participate in many activities to inspire the practice of jujitsu and traditional wrestling to a large number of fans.
