Foundation, safety and structure

All versions are developed on the MQB Evo platform. The body structure uses high-strength steel, comes with a system of 7 airbags. The Golf R Performance has a new generation ESC electronic balance system.

Golf 1.5 eTSI Mild Hybrid: focused on efficiency

The three eTSI versions use a Mild Hybrid engine with a maximum capacity of 150 horsepower, combined with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. This configuration is aimed at economical and smooth operation in urban areas. Notable equipment includes the Digital Cockpit Pro digital cockpit, a 10-inch central screen, sports seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Golf eTSI Life is the lowest priced version in the product range.

The two GTI versions use a 2.0 TSI engine for 245 horsepower, 370 Nm of torque. GTI sports suspension, red high-performance brake calipers and IQ.Light Matrix LED lighting package are highlights in terms of operation and recognition. The cockpit retains the GTI style with red accents.

Golf R Performance 4Motion: high performance and traction control

The highest version is equipped with a 2.0 TSI turbocharged engine, maximum capacity of 320 horsepower and maximum torque of 420 Nm. The 4Motion all-wheel drive system combined with R Performance Torque Vectoring allows flexible torque distribution to each wheel, optimizing grip and cornering ability. Maximum speed reaches 270 km/h.

The exterior emphasizes performance with blue R brake calipers and 19-inch wheels. Inside is an R-style cockpit: two-tone blue-gray sports seats, an R Performance steering wheel with Race button, blue trim and stainless steel pedals. The car is equipped with a new generation ESC to increase body stability when operating at high intensity.

Selling price and direct competitors

In the price range of 798–998 million VND, Golf 1.5 eTSI competes with low-chassis C-class cars such as Mazda3 Sport (659–719 million VND), Hyundai Elantra (579–769 million VND), Honda Civic (789–999 million VND), Toyota Corolla Altis (725–870 million VND).

The two Golf GTI versions are aimed at the performance sedan/hatch segment, competing with the Mercedes-Benz A 35 AMG and BMW 330i M-Sport. At the top of the product range, the Golf R Performance competes with the Honda Civic Type R, currently priced at VND 2.999 billion and will soon stop selling in Vietnam.
