Implementing the Project "Sustainable development of 01 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030" in Tra Vinh province in 2025, in the winter-spring crop, Tra Vinh farmers planted 883.72 hectares, exceeding 20.88% of the plan (728.2 hectares) including 02 pilot models of 98.4 hectares; at the same time, 14 models were replicated with an area of 785.32 hectares. According to the assessment of agricultural sector leaders, up to now, farmers have harvested 573 hectares; the average yield is from 07 - 7.5 tons/ha, the cost is at least 15 - 17% lower than outside the model, the profit is about 30% higher than outside the model.
In the summer-autumn crop, 37 communes in the province have registered to produce high-quality, low-emission rice with an area of 5,122 hectares, and have sown 458 hectares so far. In May 2025, farmers in the whole province sowed 29,246 hectares of summer-autumn rice and harvested 10,544 hectares of winter-spring rice. In the first 5 months of the year, 94,042 hectares of rice were sown, reaching 47.14% of the plan, harvesting 62,711 hectares, with an estimated output of 421,165 tons, 2,839 tons higher than the same period last year, with an average yield of 6.72 tons/ha.
Mr. Tran Van Chung, Director of Phat Tai Agricultural Cooperative: This is the second year that the cooperative has participated in the project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation". Since implementing this project, the cooperative's rice productivity and quality have increased significantly, and the profits of cooperative members and people have increased.
