To achieve the target of 97% of households using the national grid is a big challenge for the Lai Chau PC Party Committee due to the difficulties that are specific to a mountainous and border province. That is, households without electricity mainly live scattered in areas with strongly fragmented terrain, difficult transportation, long power lines, few customers, etc., leading to very large investment costs for projects. The Lai Chau PC Party Committee and Board of Directors are determined to overcome difficulties and at all costs complete the task of building and developing the grid, meeting the energy needs of people's lives and the province's construction and development.
Lai Chau PC has directed specialized departments, divisions, and affiliated units to closely coordinate with localities to review, plan, divide stages, and detailed roadmaps for investing in the construction of power supply projects in accordance with the actual situation, forecast loads, and expand the province's power supply radius. At the same time, it proposed the Provincial People's Committee, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), and the Northern Power Corporation to request central ministries and branches to pay attention to allocating reasonable capital sources, implementing power grid development projects, and bringing electricity to villages and hamlets without electricity in the province. At the same time, Lai Chau PC coordinated with project management boards of the Electricity sector to act as the focal point for implementing projects that contribute to releasing the capacity of medium and small hydropower plants in the area.

From 2020 to present, Lai Chau PC has been assigned by the Northern Power Corporation to carry out 111 investment and construction projects with a total investment of nearly 700 billion VND to implement projects to bring electricity to villages and hamlets without electricity in the province. The highlight of the investment and construction work is that in 2021, Lai Chau PC was assigned 21 projects with an investment value of nearly 157 billion VND; the projects have completed and energized over 68km of 35kV lines and 54.6km of 0.4kV lines; put into operation 22 distribution transformer stations, supplying electricity to 1,471 households of 29 villages in the communes of Hong Thu, Ta Ngao, Lang Mo, Tua Sin Chai, Phang So Lin (Sin Ho district) and Sung Phai commune (Lai Chau city).
Recently, PC Lai Chau organized the energization ceremony of the 35kV power line construction project in Nam So commune (Tan Uyen district), supplying electricity to Khau Hom village and installing a signboard welcoming the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. The project has a total investment of VND 9,566 billion, the construction scale includes: upgrading 4.3km of existing 35kV power line; building 4km of new 35kV power line, 1 100kVA-35/0.4kV transformer station, 2.27km of 0.4kV power line. The completed project has brought national electricity to 60 households in Khau Hom village and contributed to increasing the rate of villages, hamlets and households using the national grid in the province, exceeding the target of the Provincial Party Congress resolution.
The effective implementation of investment and construction projects has helped Lai Chau PC expand and modernize the power grid. Up to now, the company is managing 438km of 110kV lines; over 2,350km of medium voltage lines, 1,930km of low voltage lines; 4 110kV transformer stations and nearly 1,400 distribution transformer stations, supplying electricity to serve the needs of over 98% of villages and over 97.1% of households in the province. Promoting digital transformation and building digital enterprises according to EVN's policy, Lai Chau PC has applied a number of information technology solutions to the management and operation of the power grid, aiming to build a smart power grid.

In 2020, Lai Chau PC put into operation the Remote Control Center (TTĐKX), 4/4 unmanned 110kV transformer stations in the area are all controlled from the TTĐKX; completed the installation, connection, remote control of circuit breakers (Reclosers), load switches (LBS)... and operated and controlled from the TTĐKX via SP5 software. In 2023, the company will complete the replacement of 100% of remote electronic meters for customers in the province. In addition, the installation and operation of the DMS smart grid system with 7 loops in the province creates many stable and safe backup sources.
The power grid system in the province has been expanded and modernized, this is the result of PC Lai Chau effectively implementing investment and construction projects. The determination to bring electricity to people in remote villages and hamlets, increase the rate of households using the national grid has been completed by PC Lai Chau early and exceeded the target of the Provincial Party Congress resolution.
With the achieved results, in the 2025 - 2030 term, the Lai Chau PC Party Committee will continue to promote the Party's leadership role in guiding the implementation of advisory work, effectively utilizing capital sources, investing, building, developing and modernizing the power grid; bringing electric light far and wide to light up remote villages and hamlets without electricity in the province.
