Promoting trade and service breakthroughs
On new roads such as A4, Rach Ba 1, Hang Dieu, Cau Chay or the new Thong Nhat... it is not difficult to see people bustling about doing business and opening shops. A typical example is Nha Tre Coffee Shop (No. 165 Cau Chay, Ward 11). Having only opened for more than a month, this shop has attracted many customers thanks to its convenient location and spacious premises after the road was upgraded. Ms. Nguyen Thi Duyen, the shop owner, excitedly shared: "The shop just opened after the road was completed, making travel much more convenient. Although it has just been in operation, thanks to the heavy traffic, the number of customers coming to the shop is increasing, helping to generate a good income."
Once an area that was often congested due to narrow roads, Ward 11 - the northern gateway to the center of Vung Tau has now become a bright spot in terms of urban transformation. The 30/4 axis was once overloaded, even though two routes 3/2 and 2/9 were added, it still could not keep up with the increasing population and tourists . Faced with this situation, Vung Tau City invested in 4 strategic traffic routes including A4, Rach Ba 1, Hang Dieu and Cau Chay, with the goal of removing bottlenecks and expanding urban connectivity.
After three years of implementation, the roads have been completed one after another, bringing a spacious appearance to the entire city. The A4 planned road project, although facing difficulties in site clearance, thanks to the determination of the government and consensus of the people, up to now, the entire site has been handed over, the project has gradually been completed.
Similarly, Hang Dieu Street is basically completed, making it easy for people to go up and down their houses, doing business conveniently, creating a clean, civilized street. Ms. Ho Thi Vinh, a resident living on this street, said: “Now the street is beautiful and airy, everyone is happy. Many shops have sprung up on both sides of the street, the area has become more bustling and crowded, creating more business opportunities for people.”
Not only Ward 11, but also the inner city areas have changed significantly. The Nguyen Tri Phuong - Truong Cong Dinh intersection, once a traffic jam nightmare, after completion, opened up commercial development opportunities for the road connecting Nam Tang market, Co.op Mart supermarket and neighboring business streets.
On other routes such as Le Lai, intersections and five-way intersections have also been widened, organized neatly and airy. Mr. Do Minh Hung, a resident of Ward 1, commented: “Now the roads are widened, traveling is easier, and people can do business more conveniently. Our city is completely different from a few years ago.”
People agree
In 2024, Vung Tau City will mark a period of accelerated development of transport infrastructure with 16 completed projects, 13 projects under construction and 18 new projects being prepared for investment in 2025. In particular, satellite routes around the Thuy Van coastal axis are gradually taking shape, opening up a diverse development space for sea tourism, enhancing the experience for tourists and residents.
This success comes not only from the government’s determination to invest, but also from the cooperation and consensus of the local community. The clearance and compensation are carried out transparently, respecting the rights of the people, helping to speed up the progress of the projects. This close coordination creates conditions for each project to be completed, improving the quality of the urban transport network.
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Hoang, Chairman of Vung Tau City People's Committee, affirmed that systematic and continuous investment in transport infrastructure is the key to help the city transform strongly and build a civilized and modern urban area.
Currently, 100% of main roads have been completely paved, more than 90% of alleys have been upgraded according to the motto "State and People work together". New projects not only reduce traffic pressure but also create a new look, convenient for life and business.
This is a solid foundation, ensuring the sustainable development of Vung Tau, creating investment attraction, promoting trade, services and tourism, and contributing to building a dynamic city with great potential in the future.
