Surpassing Apple, Huawei leads the global wearables market

Huawei officially surpassed Apple and led the global wearables market with 23.6 million units shipped in the first three quarters of 2024, growing 44.3% thanks to products such as the Watch GT5 and WATCH D2.

According to data released by IDC in its "Global Wearable Device Market Quarterly Tracker Report", Huawei ranked first in total shipments in the global wearable device market in the first three quarters of 2024, reaching 23.6 million units, up 44.3% year-on-year and accounting for 16.9% market share.

Huawei to lead global market in first three quarters of 2024

IDC pointed out that Huawei has seen steady growth in Asia- Pacific , Latin America and Middle East-Africa markets through promoting localization strategies and building a global brand image.

Apple ranked second with shipments of 22.5 million units, down 12.8% year-on-year. Xiaomi held the third position with shipments of 20.5 million units, up 26.5%.

New products such as the Huawei Watch GT5 and GT5 Pro, or the second generation of the WATCH D2 blood pressure monitor, have been enthusiastically received by users and helped the Chinese technology company achieve impressive sales.

The Huawei Watch GT5 and GT5 Pro duo stand out with impressive battery life of up to 14 days, 24/7 heart rate monitoring, SpO2 concentration measurement, and diverse sports training modes, meeting the needs of users who love outdoor activities.

Meanwhile, the second generation of the integrated blood pressure watch WATCH D2 is equipped by Huawei with advanced blood pressure measurement technology with high accuracy, integrated electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring capabilities as well as overall health index management. In addition, the product design is also improved with a sharp AMOLED screen, intuitive interface and the ability to connect to the Huawei Health application.

In the Chinese market, the shipment of wearable devices reached 45.76 million units, up 20.1%, becoming the world's largest market for wearable devices. The global smartwatch market shipped 110 million units, down 3.8% year-on-year, while in China, the figure stood at 32.86 million units, up 23.3%.

The global smart bracelet market also achieved shipments of 26.82 million units, up 12.7% year-on-year, while China's was at 12.91 million units, up 12.6%.
