The WTO Director General highly appreciated Vietnam's open-door policy, international integration and active participation and contribution to the WTO, especially the results of the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference.

According to a VNA reporter in Geneva, on March 18, Ambassador Mai Phan Dung, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, WTO and other international organizations in Geneva, presentedthe President 's credentials to Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
During the exchange on the occasion of presenting the Letter of Credentials, Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala highly appreciated Vietnam's open-door policy, international integration and active participation and contribution to the WTO, especially the results of the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC13) held in Abu Dhabi, UAE from February 26 to March 2.
She suggested that Vietnam continue to make efforts to contribute to the unfinished contents, including trying to bring the Fisheries Subsidies Agreement Package 1 into effect before June 2024 and participating in promoting the successful negotiation of Package 2 to contribute to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals on sustainable development.
She reiterated her good impressions of Vietnam's leaders, specifically Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the meeting on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos in January 2024, and Minister Nguyen Hong Dien at the meeting on the sidelines of MC13.
For his part, Ambassador Mai Phan Dung affirmed that Vietnam persists in its open-door policy and international integration, is an active and responsible member of the WTO, and always values and supports the multilateral trade system with the WTO as its core.
The Ambassador highly appreciated the results achieved at MC13 and the General Director's personal contribution to the success of the conference.
The Ambassador affirmed the commitment of the Vietnamese Delegation in Geneva to continue to actively and closely coordinate with the WTO Secretariat and other WTO members to fully and effectively implement the results of MC13 in the coming time./.
