- According to information from the leaders of the People's Committee of Hop Thanh commune, Cao Loc district, due to the impact of heavy rain on June 2, 2 households in the commune had large trees fall on their houses, causing a lot of property damage. On the afternoon of June 3, Hop Thanh commune officials and militia helped 2 families move their belongings to temporary accommodation.
Accordingly, heavy rain and strong winds caused a large tree (with a rotten trunk) to fall on the houses of Mr. Nong Van Duong and Mr. Nong Van Huynh, Po Tang village, Hop Thanh commune, causing the roofs of the two houses to break, walls to crack, and many household items to be damaged. Fortunately, at the time the tree fell, no one was home, so there were no casualties. According to estimates from local residents, property damage was about 120 million VND.
Immediately after receiving the information, on June 2, the District and Commune Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command Committee and villagers came to support the two families in moving their belongings to a safe place.
Currently, the Party Committee and the government of Hop Thanh commune are considering supporting and encouraging the two affected families. At the same time, they continue to propagate for people to proactively monitor weather developments, especially for families living in areas at risk of landslides and with large trees around their houses to ensure safety of people and property.
