GIVE SEEDS, SOW GREEN SEEDS
The program "Giving seeds - Sowing green sprouts for schools" launched by the People's Committee of My Tho commune recently has made an impression not only because of its novelty but also because of the long-term vision that the locality is aiming for. Sharing about the expectations through the implementation of the program "Giving seeds - Sowing green sprouts for schools", Secretary of the Party Committee of My Tho commune Pham Thi Ngoc Dao emphasized: "Today's young generation is the force that decides the future of local agriculture . To build a green - clean - professional agriculture, we must sow awareness early, right from when the children are still in school".

The connection between the State - schools - businesses - international organizations has created a combined strength, helping the program "Giving seeds - Sowing green shoots for schools" become a model in experiential education associated with clean agriculture. |
According to comrade Pham Thi Ngoc Dao, My Tho commune aims to build 13 vegetable gardens in 13 schools, considering it a visual educational model to help students experience the clean agricultural production process from composting, sowing seeds, caring for, preventing pests and diseases to harvesting and consuming products.
Each school will organize planting, caring activities and participate in the emulation movement "My vegetable garden - My green school" launched by My Tho Commune Youth Union. Students will learn how to take care of vegetables, record diaries, photos, and clips of the vegetable garden's growth process to participate, score, and award prizes in Youth Month 2026.
One of the factors that helps the program "Giving seeds - Sowing green shoots for schools" to have a wide spread is the companionship of organizations and businesses.
Sharing the joy of Seed to Table being honored to be a companion in building this organic school farming model, Ms. Ino Mayu, Chief Representative of Seed to Table (Japan) expressed: “The lessons that students experience in the vegetable garden will stay with them for life. These are lessons about labor, about love of nature, about responsibility to the community. We believe that from today's small seeds, new thinking about clean agriculture will grow in the future.”
GREEN - SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION PLATFORM
During the 5 years of working with schools in Cao Lanh district (formerly), Seed to Table has supported the construction of many school vegetable garden models, bringing results beyond expectations. And now, the fact that the My Tho commune government has a vision and longer-term orientation when continuing to develop organic vegetable gardens in schools in the commune shows the spirit of innovation and determination of the locality, and this is the motivation for Seed to Table to continue to accompany and stick with the locality.

Each green sprout is the starting point for My Tho to develop green and sustainable agriculture. |
If the program has a foundation from the leadership and support of the accompanying units, the school and students are the center of the journey of sowing seeds. Ms. Tran Thi Thuy, Principal of My Tho Town Secondary School, affirmed the commitment: "The school will seriously and creatively implement the model "My vegetable garden - My green school". Each vegetable bed, each flower pot will be part of the lesson on life skills, labor and responsibility to the environment...".
Practical experiences from tilling the soil, composting, caring for plants to harvesting and raising funds to support disadvantaged children help students understand the value of honest labor and the spirit of sharing. They not only learn biological or technological knowledge, but also learn how to work in groups, solve problems and appreciate the efforts of farmers.
Nguyen Ngoc Bao Ngan, a student at My Tho town secondary school, shared: "When we see the vegetables we take care of grow day by day, we clearly feel that labor creates value and the joy of giving is very great."
From a small program, My Tho commune is gradually forming an agricultural development mindset based on a green and sustainable education foundation. Today’s school vegetable beds may not immediately change the face of agriculture, but they are quietly creating a new generation - a generation that loves nature, knows how to do clean agriculture and knows how to live responsibly towards the community.
