Mobilizing the synchronous participation of the entire political system, Hoanh Son ward is promoting multidimensional poverty reduction in a sustainable direction, from building houses, connecting jobs, supporting social security to implementing appropriate livelihood models. These synchronous efforts are gradually narrowing the development gap and ensuring that no household is left behind.

In the journey of building a developed urban ward after merging administrative units, Hoanh Son has to face a difficult problem: large population, uneven living standards, and increasing social security needs. Instead of dealing with fragmented situations, the locality has chosen a systematic approach: mobilizing all political and social forces to participate, focusing on comprehensive multidimensional poverty reduction.
According to the review at the end of 2025, Hoanh Son ward has 91 poor households (1.75%) and 144 near-poor households (2.75%), a sharp decrease compared to the previous year. This is not just a statistical number, but the result of the continuous and systematic participation of the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and organizations.

In the context of rapidly changing industrial urban areas, the cause of poverty for people is no longer simply lack of income. Some households lack safe housing, some households lack stable jobs, some households lack vocational training records, lack health insurance, or lack means of livelihood... Therefore, the ward implements multidimensional poverty reduction, clearly classifying household groups to support the right content and right needs.
Housing support resources are one of the highlights. From the state budget, national target programs, to socialized resources from organizations and businesses, the ward has supported 23 poor households to repair and build new houses in 2025. Each completed house not only helps people stabilize their lives, but also motivates them to proactively strive to improve.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Mien - Head of Lien Phu Residential Group shared: “There are poor households due to illness, some due to unsafe and dilapidated houses, some due to lack of jobs. We understand each case clearly to report to the ward to arrange appropriate support. The important thing is not to let any household fall into dire circumstances without the support of the community…”.

Along with housing, the ward pays special attention to job connection. The ward actively coordinates with businesses inside and outside the Vung Ang Economic Zone to grasp recruitment needs; organizes propaganda, career counseling and job introduction for poor and near-poor workers. Thanks to that, many workers who previously only worked seasonally now have stable jobs with good income.
Along with job connections, the organizations also carry out many practical support activities such as: giving gifts to poor households, granting savings books to especially poor households, supporting education costs for poor children, mobilizing working days to repair houses, donating clothes and necessities, helping the poor feel the care of the community.

Regarding livelihood models, although not the only focus, they still play an important role in supporting sustainable poverty reduction. Models such as growing Ky Nam yellow apricot, raising breeding cows, and small-scale commercial and service businesses are implemented based on the needs and actual conditions of each household. These approaches help people make appropriate choices, without forcing them to follow a stereotype.
The highlight of Hoanh Son ward's approach is that it does not assign the responsibility of poverty reduction to a single department, but clearly assigns it to each force: The residential group closely follows each household, updates changes; the Fatherland Front and mass organizations deploy support for specific household groups; Officers working on poverty reduction build profiles and roadmaps to escape poverty for each case. The ward government coordinates overall, allocates resources, and connects with businesses.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoanh Son Ward Nguyen Hong Cuong affirmed: "Sustainable poverty reduction is not about immediate support, but about creating conditions for people to proactively change their lives. The government only opens the way, and the people are the center of the process of rising up. The spirit is, to do it thoroughly, not to leave anyone behind...
The ward will continue to consolidate resources for housing support, enhance employment linkages, strongly mobilize socialized resources and expand economic models suitable for poor households. At the same time, the ward will enhance the responsibility of officials in reviewing and monitoring the risk of re-poverty, ensuring that all support is transparent and reaches the right beneficiaries...

It can be seen that Hoanh Son ward is getting closer and closer to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction with steady steps. Not creating a temporary movement, not chasing after numbers, the locality chooses a humane way of doing things: close to the people, understanding the people and accompanying the people. This is the foundation for the locality to continue to develop, build a warm community where no one is left behind.
