(CPV) - The workshop "Medical Practice Training and Professionalism in 2023" discussed the comprehensive improvement of the 6-year medical doctor training program and some specialties to improve program design skills, active learning, clinical teaching and create a community to build innovation in medicaleducation together.

On April 18, 2023, the International Conference “Medical Practice Training and Professionalism 2023” officially opened at the Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU-HCM) Administration Building. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Medicine, VNU-HCM with the support of the Partnership for Healthcare Development in Vietnam (HAIVN).

This workshop brings together many universities training in the field of health sciences in Vietnam that are participating in the IMPACT MED project such as: Faculty of Medicine, VNU-HCM, Hanoi Medical University, Hai Duong Medical Technical University, Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Da Nang University of Medical Technical - Pharmacy, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, etc. With the support of Harvard Medical School, experts will discuss the comprehensive improvement of the 6-year medical doctor training program and some specialties, in order to improve program design skills, active learning, clinical teaching and create a community to build innovation in medical education together.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Dang Van Phuoc, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of VNU-HCM expressed his honor that the Faculty of Medicine, with the support of HAIVN, organized a conference of such scale and significance. The professor also said that innovation in medical training is very necessary, helping to train a new generation of doctors who are dynamic, professional and integrated. Students will have early clinical access, learning based on evidence-based medicine, thereby equipping them with lifelong self-learning skills, including proactive learning and teamwork skills.

At the workshop, in addition to following and discussing with Associate Professor, Dr. Barbara Rose Gottlieb from Harvard Medical School on topics such as: Observation of clinical practice, overview of medical practice training and professionalism, framework for medical practice training and professionalism in preclinical years; Feedback and SPIKES tool..., experts will also follow presentations by domestic experts, especially group discussions.

The International Conference on “Medical Practice Training and Professionalism” will take place continuously for 2 days, April 18-19, 2023, in 2 forms, in person and online on the Zoom platform./.
