Previously, patient NHQ (2 years old, residing in Long Phu District, Soc Trang) was transferred by his family to Soc Trang Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital in a state of crying, complaining of abdominal pain, fever and vomiting.
Through examination, ultrasound and testing, it was found that the baby's appendix was inflamed, with signs of surrounding fat infiltration and high white blood cell count. Doctors determined that this was a serious case and required emergency surgery.
During surgery, the doctor noted a lot of pus in the abdomen, concentrated mainly in the right iliac fossa and hypogastric region.
In addition, the doctor also discovered a foreign object in the cecum, about 4 cm long, suspected to be a fish bone that had pierced the cecum. The location of the piercing foreign object showed signs of inflammation, with a lot of pus appearing.

The doctor performed an appendectomy and removed the foreign object from the cecum. After surgery, the patient was monitored and treated at the hospital.
Relatives said that Q. liked to eat fish. Somehow, while eating, he swallowed such a large red tilapia bone.
According to the doctor, it was fortunate that the family took the child to the hospital in time and successfully treated him. If there had been a delay, the abdominal infection could have progressed to a more serious condition, even threatening his life.
