Promoting the revolutionary offensive spirit, the armed forces of Bac Kan province continued to join the whole country in “Fighting to drive out the Americans and topple the puppets”. During the national resistance war, Bac Kan spared no human and material resources. More than 8,000 ethnic minorities in Bac Kan went to fight, more than 2,000 of whom sacrificed their lives for the independence, freedom and unity of the country.
After two resistance wars, Bac Kan and the whole country set out to rebuild the country. In that difficult early period, in addition to the task of protecting the Fatherland, the provincial armed forces actively participated in labor production and did a good job in the rear. The country was in renovation, the role of the armed forces in building and protecting the Fatherland was increasingly affirmed. Even in the remote villages and hamlets that still faced difficulties, or in difficult and dangerous places, the officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces always upheld the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", helping people build roads, build houses, rescue, overcome the consequences of natural disasters... In particular, that role and responsibility were clearly demonstrated in responding to and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 ( Yagi ) in the province, helping the people of Ta Han, Xuan Lac commune (Cho Don) build resettlement areas...
“In the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, the leadership role of the Party, the administration of the government, and the unity of the people are very important, but the protective role of the armed forces is also indispensable. The past 80 years have shown that the armed forces of Bac Kan have always been a loyal force, a reliable support for the Party, government and people at all times and places,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Quan, former Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association.

Turning back the pages of history of the armed forces of Bac Kan, we are even more proud and appreciate the spirit of "sacrificing ourselves for the country" of our predecessors. During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, the armed forces of the province, together with the people, repaired 275 km of roads and 150 bridges with a total length of 1,267 m; mobilized 4,789 kg of food; 9,021 officers and soldiers went to fight the enemy, many of whom made outstanding achievements and were awarded the titles "Brave American Destroyer", "Hero of the People's Armed Forces"; 100 mothers were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother; 2,121 martyrs were children of Bac Kan's ethnic groups who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
His father used to work in the armed forces, born in peacetime, but Lieutenant Trieu Van Nam, working at the Propaganda Department, Political Department - Provincial Military Command, always realized the responsibility of a soldier and the pride of wearing the uniform. For Lieutenant Nam, whether in wartime or peacetime, a soldier must always be aware of his responsibility to the Party, the Fatherland and the People.
Throughout the length of the Vietnamese revolution, the army and people of Bac Kan have had many feats of arms, contributing to the common achievements of the nation. A typical example is the Phu Thong Victory (in 1948) which was the first battle in which our army destroyed the elite French reinforcement company defending with solid fortifications. The victory brought confidence and experience, making great contributions to our army's advance on the path of siege warfare. Proud to be the heroic revolutionary homeland, every officer and soldier of the Bac Kan armed forces in the current period upholds and promotes the traditions left by their ancestors.

Not only ready to fight to protect the revolutionary achievements, the armed forces of the whole country in general and Bac Kan in particular are always wholeheartedly serving the people anywhere and in any circumstances.
The last days of the year are also the period when forces at the construction site of Ta Han Resettlement Area, Xuan Lac Commune (Cho Don) are racing against time to complete the assigned progress. Ta Han Resettlement Area was built with a total budget of 28 billion VND supported by the Ministry of National Defense for 25 Mong ethnic households at high risk of landslides after Storm No. 3 (Yagi).
In order to complete the resettlement area before December 31, 2024, in the past time, the Military Command of Bac Kan province has regularly directed the forces to continue to coordinate closely, have flexible measures to speed up the progress, at the same time must ensure technical factors and labor safety, determined to complete as soon as possible so that people can move to their new homes. In the past days in Ta Han, the story of the soldiers' determination and willpower, and the affection of the local people for the soldiers is extremely profound. The people have become familiar with the faces and names of many soldiers and call them by the affectionate common name "Ta Han soldiers".
Not only a fighting force, the provincial armed forces are also a working force with many activities aimed at the grassroots, building trust, and building a solid "people's heart position". In 2024, the Provincial Military Command mobilized hundreds of comrades in the regular force, 612 militia comrades, more than 1,000 vehicles and equipment to participate in responding to and overcoming the consequences of Typhoon Yagi in the area; at the same time, it also mobilized officers and soldiers of the entire force to contribute to support people affected by natural disasters. The image of soldiers who, regardless of hardship and danger, rushed through floodwaters and landslide areas to save and help people left a deep impression.
Colonel Hua Chien Thang - Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command said that the army is devoted to the people, protects the people, the people trust and help the army is the bond that connects the army and the people. It is also the basis for the provincial armed forces to build a "people's heart position", build a solid provincial defense area, contributing to protecting the peace of the homeland./.
