Building a happy school

Sharing the reason for choosing the profession of preschool teacher, teacher Le Thi Bich Tram (Principal of 19/5 Kindergarten, Hai Chau Ward) said that everything came naturally because of her love for children. “When I went to school, I saw the image of Uncle Ho with the children and how he always paid special attention to education, so I was determined to follow this career.

And by chance, I came to work at the school named after Uncle Ho's birthday right after graduating and have been there for 17 years now. Later, having studied, researched the theory and followed Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, I see more clearly that the path in my career as a preschool teacher is truly noble and honorable," said Ms. Tram.

Realizing that building a happy school is one of the practical contents for the school, in September 2019, when she was the Vice Principal of 19/5 Kindergarten, Ms. Tram proposed applying the initiative "Building a happy school and solutions to train teachers and staff to create positive emotions in caring for, nurturing and educating children" into practice at the school.

According to Ms. Tram, a happy kindergarten is a place where children are cared for and educated according to the "child-centered" perspective; a place where teachers are motivated, have positive emotions such as being respected, trusted, joyful, and happy every time they go to class; and a close connection between the school, parents and students.

In recent times, the school has implemented many solutions such as: building a model of "motivational paintings, creating positive emotions"; launching a competition movement "removing pressure on achievements, bringing what children like"; launching a movement to make toys from school milk cartons and recycled materials to serve children's fun and educational activities; "happy class time", "happy play, creative learning"; organizing activities and events with the participation of parents; building a "creative children's playroom"... to help the school receive positive feedback.

The initiative "Building happy schools and solutions to train teachers and staff to create positive emotions in caring for, nurturing and educating children" was recognized by the City People's Committee as a city-level initiative.

With her love for the profession and her dedication, in 2021, teacher Le Thi Bich Tram was one of the city's young teachers appointed as Principal of 19/5 Kindergarten with 100% of the votes of confidence.

During her 4 years as principal, Ms. Tram and the school have achieved many remarkable achievements. In the 2022 - 2023 school year, the school received the First Class Labor Medal from the President and before that, the Emulation Flag from the Government in 2021. Ms. Tram received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for her outstanding achievements in education and training from the 2017 - 2018 school year to the 2021 - 2022 school year, a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for the 2022 - 2023 school year, and many certificates of merit and certificates of merit at all levels in the city.

Innovation in teaching and learning

With the core values of "morality - intelligence - determination", teacher Nguyen Quynh Van (Principal of Phan Dang Luu Primary School, Hoa Cuong Ward) and the school's staff and teachers have deployed the model "Kind School" at Phan Dang Luu Primary School from the 2020-2021 school year to present.

The model is realized through inspirational talks, activities to develop and spread reading culture, as well as programs to sow seeds of love towards the community.

According to Ms. Van, “Kind School” is not just a slogan, but has become a lasting journey. From the activities and flag-raising ceremonies where students listen to speakers talk about gratitude, determination or the joy of sharing, to happy reading hours with “Quintessence Bookcase”, “Reading with Ms. May Am”, or “5 minutes reading with your child”...

The journey continues with volunteer steps in the program “Sowing seeds of love” - where each month is a stop to share, sometimes with gifts for sick children, sometimes with encouragement for lonely elderly people… After 5 years, from an initial idea, this model has become the pride of the whole group.

Entering the 2024-2025 school year, the school will develop the "10th lesson" model for students to develop their strengths and confidently shine with their own strengths.

By implementing innovative and creative solutions in teaching and learning, Phan Dang Luu Primary School has achieved many remarkable results. In the period 2020 - 2025, the school was ranked as having completed its tasks excellently.

In the 2023-2024 school year, the school was voted as the leading unit in the primary school competition in Hai Chau district (old) and received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister, an Emulation Flag from the Chairman of the City People's Committee; and also received a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for its outstanding achievements in teaching innovation. As an individual, teacher Nguyen Quynh Van has also received many certificates of merit from all levels in the city for many years.

Despite achieving many outstanding achievements in teaching and learning, two teachers Le Thi Bich Tram and Nguyen Quynh Van both believe that a person's success is never the result of an individual alone. Every glory, no matter how great, is built on a solid foundation of support, cooperation and tireless efforts from a collective. Recognition from the collective will be a strong motivation for each individual to continue to contribute and together create new results.
