People of Hong Phong commune, Binh Gia district join hands to build rural roads

Compared to other areas, the implementation of new rural construction in Binh Gia district faces more difficulties and challenges because most of the communes are particularly difficult communes with fragmented terrain. Determining that new rural construction is a large, comprehensive program that directly impacts development, in recent years, Binh Gia district has synchronously deployed many solutions to overcome difficulties and effectively implement the new rural construction program.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan, Chairman of Binh Gia District People's Committee, said: To support communes in building new rural areas, every year, in addition to the direct investment resources of the program, the District People's Committee has balanced and integrated other resources to support communes in investing in infrastructure construction, building and replicating effective production models to serve socio -economic development. Along with that, the District People's Committee directed specialized agencies and People's Committees of communes to strengthen propaganda, mobilize and mobilize people's participation and contribution to implement new rural criteria.

Under the direction of the District People's Committee, specialized departments and offices, the People's Committees of communes quickly began to implement the goals and tasks of building new rural areas. Ms. Hoang Thi Anh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Binh Gia district, said: Every year, the district selects at least 1 pilot commune to strive to meet the new rural standards, the remaining communes strive to achieve 1-2 more criteria. To achieve that goal, the specialized department has coordinated with relevant agencies and the People's Committees of pilot communes to proactively review and evaluate the current status of each criterion, specifically classify which criteria require investment of State resources, which criteria require the cooperation and contribution of the people, thereby developing a specific plan for implementation.

From 2021 to present, the total resources mobilized by the district to build the new rural area are over 437 billion VND, of which the direct investment resources for the program are about 85 billion VND, the rest are combined capital and socialized resources. From the State's investment resources, relevant units have deployed the construction of more than 70 infrastructure works such as roads, schools, medical stations, cultural facilities... (mainly in key communes striving to meet the new rural standards in the period of 2021-2025).

Along with investing in infrastructure construction, the District People's Committee directed specialized agencies and commune People's Committees to step up propaganda and mobilize people to better understand the purpose and meaning of the program.

Mr. Hoang Van Day, Vang Phya village, Hong Phong commune said: In 2022, the State has a policy to build an inter-village road through his family's land. After being propagandized and mobilized by commune officials and village representatives about road construction, my family donated 5,000m2 of land and more than 200 tallow trees to build the road. From the donated land area of ​​my family and other households, the concrete road through the village was quickly completed, creating favorable conditions for people to travel and develop production as well as contributing to completing the traffic criteria in the general construction of the new rural area of ​​Hong Phong commune.

Along with the people in Hong Phong commune, in recent years, many households in communes in Binh Gia district have also actively contributed labor, money, and donated land to join hands to implement the NTM criteria. Specifically, from 2021 to present, people in the district have contributed money, donated land, and labor worth more than 20 billion VND to implement the criteria of transportation, irrigation, cultural facilities, environment, etc.

With the investment resources of the State and the joint efforts and contributions of the people, the implementation of the construction of new rural areas in the district has achieved positive results. Up to now, the district has 10/18 communes meeting the new rural standards, including 2 advanced new rural communes (before meeting the new rural standards, these communes were all extremely disadvantaged communes), on average each commune in the district has met 13.89 criteria.

With the results achieved in the past time, we believe that in the coming years, with the support of the State and the cooperation and contribution of the people, the implementation of the new rural construction program in Binh Gia district will have more obvious changes. Thereby contributing significantly to the overall socio-economic development in the area.
