Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Manh Dong spoke at the press conference.

Nguyen Manh Dong, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said that activities and events honoring the Vietnamese language in many diverse forms and with rich content have been widely organized at home and abroad; thereby recording many positive results, contributing to creating a solid foundation in teaching, preserving and spreading the Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community.

Specifically, the 2024 Vietnamese Ambassador Competition attracted more contestants than in 2023. Among the 5 outstanding contestants who won the title of "Vietnamese Ambassador Abroad 2024", there was an 8-year-old contestant and a foreign contestant who loves Vietnamese. The selection of the young contestant to win the title is also the message that the 2024 Competition wants to send to the NVNONN community: to encourage and motivate the young generation to learn and preserve the Vietnamese language so that it can later become a solid foundation in the bridge connecting Vietnamese culture to the world .

The construction of Vietnamese bookcases has also received much attention. The bookcases are considered a convenient resource for promoting the teaching and learning of Vietnamese abroad, especially in areas where there is no official Vietnamese language teaching program. Up to now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Vietnam Education Publishing House has provided 5 bookcases to areas and provided books to serve the community in Austria, Laos, Hungary, Slovakia, Belgium, and Qatar.

In particular, on the evening of September 8, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs in coordination with the Foreign Television Department (VTV4) - Vietnam Television and VietArt Media Joint Stock Company organized the Closing Ceremony of the Day to Honor the Vietnamese Language in the Overseas Vietnamese Community in 2024 and the Gala program Dear Vietnamese Language with the theme "Words of the homeland, words of steadfastness" at the Hanoi Opera House. This is a meaningful spiritual gift for Overseas Vietnamese people, at the same time expressing gratitude to individuals and organizations at home and abroad who have actively contributed to activities to honor the Vietnamese language, as well as practical activities to promote the learning and use of Vietnamese in the community.
