Building traffic culture for preschool age children

BHG - To prevent accidents and ensure the safety of young people and students when participating in traffic, building a "Traffic Culture" is identified as an important measure. Therefore, theEducation sector has coordinated with the Police force and selected the preschool generation as the target of propagating the Road Traffic Law in 2023.

The Provincial Police Traffic Police Department coordinates with kindergartens to propagate the Law on Traffic Safety.

Traffic safety education for preschool children is necessary. This is important for the development of children, helping them to be aware of safe and correct traffic participation. From there, helping children avoid dangers on the way to school and out. In particular, when fully equipped with knowledge about traffic safety, children themselves are also young propagandists - Ms. Dinh Thi Anh Dao, Department of Education and Training of Ha Giang city shared about the importance of propagating the Traffic Safety Law for preschool children.

With the method of "Learning while playing, playing while learning", in recent years, preschools across the province have implemented many practical activities, such as: Models of street intersections with traffic signs, traffic lights, road markings and vehicles participating in traffic; games to follow the commands of traffic controllers; plays about common traffic situations... Thereby, creating excitement and helping children recognize some regulations when participating in traffic easily, at the same time impacting the construction of traffic awareness for children from an early age.

Teacher Nong Bich Lan, Principal of Ngoc Duong Kindergarten, Ha Giang City shared: “Education at preschool age focuses on developing children's personality. Therefore, traffic safety education for preschool age, with appropriate methods, is necessary. Thereby, creating good habits for children in complying with regulations, while contributing to building a traffic culture. Implementing the direction of the Department of Education and Training, the school has coordinated with the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police to organize a Traffic Safety Competition with healthy games, skits and realistic and humorous traffic situations to help children easily understand and remember lessons about traffic safety. In addition, the Traffic Safety Law has also been built by the school to include in the teaching curriculum; organizing the signing of agreements with parents of students in implementing traffic safety in front of the school gate…”.

With the goal of 100% of preschool children in preschools participating in the program and having awareness, skills, and attitudes about traffic safety; 100% of managers, teachers, and staff in preschools are trained to improve their capacity in managing and organizing traffic safety education activities for children; mobilizing the participation of families and society, creating unity; becoming a competitive movement, building a model to ensure traffic safety order... In the first quarter of 2023, the City Department of Education and Training organized the Traffic Safety Program at 17/18 preschools. Diverse and flexible propaganda activities have contributed to building a traffic culture for children.
