Bus number 10 temporarily suspended

"On the evening of March 23, 2024, the authorities requested to temporarily suspend car traffic through Nhiem Bridge after a barge got stuck in the middle of the bridge, damaging it. To ensure traffic safety, bus route 10 will also be temporarily suspended until Nhiem Bridge is completely repaired," said a representative of the Urban Traffic Control Center.

As reported by Giao Thong Newspaper, at around 6:00 p.m. on March 23, a barge carrying rocks was traveling on the Can Tho River, in the direction from Phong Dien district to Ninh Kieu district.

When approaching Nhiem Bridge, the barge's cockpit collided with the two middle spans of the bridge. The collision caused the connection point of the two spans to shift about 30cm from its original position.

As of the morning of March 24, motorbikes were still able to cross the bridge normally, while cars and trucks were directed to take another route. Authorities and the barge owner are currently working to fix the problem.
