At 8:00 a.m., Mr. Tran Linh, 34 years old, from Quang Ngai, was driving a truck carrying goods on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway from Binh Thuan to Ho Chi Minh City.

When passing the toll station in Cam My district (Dong Nai) about 200 meters, the car started to smoke in front of the cabin. Discovering a fire, Mr. Linh pulled the car into the emergency lane, jumped out and tried to put out the fire.

Many drivers stopped to help the toll booth staff, but to no avail. In just a moment, the cabin was engulfed in flames, accompanied by several explosions. The fire did not cause any casualties, but the front of the vehicle and its cargo were burned within 30 minutes. Authorities later arrived to regulate traffic and investigate the incident.

The 99-km Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressway connects Dong Nai and Binh Thuan provinces. The project has a total investment of more than VND12,500 billion and was opened to traffic at the end of April. The route starts at the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway in Ham Thuan Nam district and ends at the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway in Thong Nhat district, Dong Nai province.
