Previously, the temporary house, which had been degraded for many years, was the place where Mrs. Bui Thi Hin lived - a poor household with extremely difficult circumstances in Xuat Hoa commune (Lac Son district). As a single parent with no children and often sick, building a more spacious house to live in was something Mrs. Hin had never dared to think about.

However, with the support from the “For the Poor” Fund, Mrs. Hin’s dream has come true. With the support of 50 million VND from the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses and the help of the community, last October, Mrs. Hin started building a Great Unity house with an area of over 40 square meters. The solid house that meets the “3 hard” criteria is expected to be completed before Tet. With a spacious and comfortable place to live, from now on, Mrs. Hin will no longer have to worry every time it rains or is windy. This is also a source of spiritual encouragement for her to feel secure in doing business and stabilizing her life.

To realize the goal of eliminating 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025, communes and towns in Lac Son district are making efforts to overcome difficulties and focus all resources to speed up construction progress. Since the beginning of the year, 24 Great Unity houses have been supported by the Fatherland Front at all levels of Lac Son district to build new houses to help poor households stabilize their lives. Ms. Bui Thi Van - Head of the District Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairwoman of the Lac Son District Fatherland Front Committee said that in response to the emulation movement "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" launched by the Prime Minister , many units, businesses and individuals have actively supported and contributed resources to eliminate temporary houses through many forms such as cash donations and construction materials. To date, the district's "For the Poor" Fund has received over 1.9 billion VND. With resources allocated from the Provincial Fund for the Poor, the Lac Son District Fatherland Front Committee and other localities have been surveying, supporting and constructing houses for over 100 poor households in disadvantaged areas, remote areas with a total value of over 5 billion VND.

Up to now, thousands of poor, near-poor households, and families with special housing difficulties in Hoa Binh province have been supported and helped to renovate and repair their houses. In the past 5 years, the Fatherland Front at all levels in Hoa Binh province has mobilized support for the construction of the "For the Poor" Fund with over 99.6 billion VND, supported the construction of 1,867 new Great Unity houses and repaired 415 Great Unity houses for poor households with a total amount of 64.4 billion VND.

However, according to Mr. Bui Van Luyen - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoa Binh province, in addition to the achieved results, the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Hoa Binh province still faces many difficulties and challenges. "After reviewing the province, there are still more than 7,000 households in need of housing support, of which 3,539 households are living in temporary and dilapidated houses and are in urgent need of housing. Responding to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", Hoa Binh is determined to complete the elimination of 3,539 temporary and dilapidated houses in the province by the end of 2025" - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoa Binh province said and affirmed that in addition to supporting the construction and repair of houses, the province will focus on implementing well the work of supporting livelihoods, guiding, transferring knowledge, experience, and technology so that the poor have the opportunity and conditions to escape poverty sustainably.
