The remarkable development of telecommunications and the Internet has spread to most remote villages and hamlets, providing opportunities for Thai Nguyen people to maintain communication and access global information.
By the end of 2024, all hamlets in Thai Nguyen province will be provided with fiber optic broadband Internet service, 99.6% of hamlets will be covered by 3G/4G mobile broadband. The remarkable development of telecommunications and the Internet has spread to most remote hamlets and villages, providing opportunities for people to maintain communication and access global information. The Internet not only serves daily life but also supports learning and entertainment, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people.

VNPT Thai Nguyen staff check the quality of 4G broadband wireless Internet in Na Sang hamlet, Phu Do commune (Phu Luong). |
Na Sang Hamlet (Phu Do Commune, Phu Luong) is home to nearly 30 households, including 24 Mong ethnic households. Over the past two years, the coverage of mobile telecommunications and 4G mobile broadband Internet has brought many positive changes to the lives of the people here.
Mr. Ly Van Vi, a Mong ethnic, in Na Sang hamlet, shared: Before, the signal was unstable, even non-existent, every time we needed to make a phone call, we had to run to a higher place to "catch" the signal. Now, with phone signal, we can easily make phone calls, text messages, and even make video calls with everyone. This not only helps save time and money, but also helps us update information quickly and promptly, thereby contributing to production development, improving material and spiritual life...
Na Sang is one of the last hamlets in Phu Luong district to be covered by telecommunications since the end of 2022. Having mobile telecommunications and 4G Internet also opens up many business opportunities for people in the previously low-bandwidth area. They can search for information about the market, agricultural product prices, and learn new farming techniques online...
Mr. Chu Xuan Tien, Director of VNPT Phu Luong Telecommunications Center: We received investment from VNPT, so we completely eliminated the telecommunications depression by the end of 2022. The development of telecommunications and the Internet has brought new opportunities, improving the quality of life of people in the area.
Identifying investment in construction and development of telecommunications infrastructure to serve digital transformation as one of the extremely important factors, the Department of Information and Communications of Thai Nguyen has had many solutions to eliminate mobile and telecommunications signal depressions, such as: Expanding broadband capacity and transmission lines; providing high-quality Internet services to remote, isolated hamlets, and particularly disadvantaged areas...
The Department also actively guides and urges functional units to lay fiber optic cables and build mobile base transceiver stations (BTS) in accordance with the province's detailed telecommunications infrastructure planning. At the same time, it coordinates with localities to create land funds to build infrastructure to expand mobile coverage and fixed Internet.
From 2021 to present, telecommunications enterprises have built more than 300 BTS stations, bringing the total number of BTS stations in the province to 1,850 stations (currently, each commune, ward, and town has an average of more than 10 BTS stations), providing waves to nearly 1.53 million subscribers, reaching a rate of 117 subscribers/100 people. Of which, 79% of subscribers use 3G, 4G, and 5G Internet services.
The fiber optic network has been extended to 100% of communes, wards, towns, villages, and hamlets, providing high-quality Internet access and television services. The total number of subscribers accessing fixed broadband Internet via fiber optic cable in the province to date is over 277 thousand subscribers, equivalent to 76% of households using the service...
Although telecommunications enterprises have actively developed telecommunications infrastructure to overcome signal depressions, up to now, there are still 7 hamlets in the mountainous district of Vo Nhai that do not have mobile signal. Therefore, the rate of villages and hamlets covered by 3G/4G mobile broadband is only 99.6%.
Mong people in Mo Chi hamlet, Cuc Duong commune (Vo Nhai) still have to go to the hamlet's cultural house to connect to mobile telecommunications signals. |
Mo Chi Hamlet (Cuc Duong Commune) is one of the areas with weak mobile telecommunications signals in Vo Nhai District. Currently, there are only two points in the central area of the hamlet that can receive mobile signals. However, most of the 166 households in the hamlet live in different small clusters, so accessing telecommunications signals is very difficult.
Mr. Ngo Van Chu, Head of Mo Chi Hamlet, shared: Currently, Mo Chi people are forced to go to the hamlet cultural house yard to connect to telecommunication signals. This causes many difficulties in communication and information access, affecting the lives and production of the people. We hope that the State will invest in mobile phone coverage and wireless Internet to serve our lives and develop production...
The reason why the mobile telecommunications depression in Vo Nhai district has not been completely eliminated is due to the high and rugged mountainous terrain, making it difficult to install BTS stations. Mr. Nguyen Duc Loc, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications, shared: Investing in developing telecommunications infrastructure in depression areas is very necessary to ensure that all people have access to modern telecommunications services, improving the quality of life. Currently, we are continuing to request telecommunications enterprises and Vo Nhai district to coordinate in installing BTS stations to cover depression areas in the coming time. In addition, the Department will request service providers to expand bandwidth capacity, transmission lines, and provide high-quality Internet services to remote, isolated, and extremely disadvantaged villages and hamlets in the province. Thereby contributing to promoting digital transformation in disadvantaged areas, striving to make Thai Nguyen a digital transformation center of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region...
