Daily Mail on May 29 reported on the incident that occurred at the final award ceremony of the "Miss Gay Mato Grosso" 2023 contest, held on May 27 in Cuiabá City, Mato Grosso State - Brazil.
At that time, Nathally Becker – the contestant representing Cuiabá – was holding hands with Emanuelly Belini – a contestant from the city of Várzea Grande. Both were waiting for the judges to announce the winner of the beauty crown, crowned the winner of the contest. The other person held the runner-up position.

As soon as Emanuelly Belini's name was called and the crown was slowly placed on her head, Nathally Becker's husband, Matheus Oliveira, suddenly rushed onto the stage from the audience. He snatched the crown, threw it straight to the ground, and dragged his wife away, to everyone's astonishment. Then, Matheus Oliveira stopped and picked up the crown, throwing it again until it broke.
Malone Haenisch, the organizer of Miss Gay Mato Grosso 2023, said on behalf of the organizers that the contest was essentially over before Emanuelly Belini was crowned. The results were recognized and the judges also did their job fairly when deciding which contestant would become Miss.
"He thought the outcome was unfair and that's why he caused all this," Malone Haenisch said of Nathally Becker's husband.
Malone Haenisch crowned Emanuelly Belini and said the police were handling the case. Matheus Oliveira will have to pay compensation for the broken crown.
