A company was fined more than 2.9 billion VND for using expired food ingredients.

NDO - On May 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety announced that the advisory unit of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee decided to impose an administrative fine of more than VND2.9 billion on GodwayPharma Limited Liability Company for using expired ingredients to produce food. At the same time, the company was required to destroy all ingredients and products in violation.

GodwayPharma Limited Liability Company, located at 147 Bui Cong Trung, Nhi Binh Commune, Hoc Mon District, has seriously violated food safety regulations by using expired “Prozymax Protein Powder with Natural Chocolate Flavor” to produce packaged food products. The total value of the violated products is up to nearly 1.944 billion VND.

Specifically, this company used lot number 50323HH, which has an expiry date until February 2025, but at the time of inspection on April 22, 2025, this raw material had expired. However, the company still put into production two types of products: "Natural Chocolate Flavored Protein Powder P1" and "Natural Chocolate Flavored Protein Powder PHSP".

The protein powder products produced include: 588kg of P1 product equivalent to 49 cartons (24 boxes/carton, 20 packs/box, 25g/pack) with a total value of 882 million VND; 708kg of PHSP product equivalent to 59 cartons, with a value of 1.062 billion VND. In addition, there are 3,804kg of expired Prozymax Protein Powder raw materials in stock.

The incident is a stern warning to businesses operating in the food sector about complying with food safety regulations. In the context of consumers increasingly concerned about product quality and public health, such violations need to be strictly handled to ensure deterrence and protect consumer rights.
