Speaking at the conference, Director of Hanoi National University, Professor, Dr. Le Quan affirmed that developing science , technology, innovation and digital transformation are decisive factors for the development of countries, and are strategic steps for Vietnam to take advantage of opportunities and overcome challenges in the digital age.
As a multidisciplinary, multi-field, high-quality, high-level training, research and knowledge transfer center, Vietnam National University, Hanoi plays a leading and core role in the Vietnamese highereducation system.
Hanoi National University commits to continue promoting the implementation of the Action Program under Resolution 57-NQ/TW, focusing on innovation, effectively connecting three subjects: schools, scientists and businesses to promote the transfer of knowledge, scientific and technological products into practice.
This is not only a strategic task but also the responsibility of a pioneering national university, accompanying the country in realizing major goals of scientific development and innovation in the digital age.
In the period of 2024-2025, the science, technology and innovation activities of Hanoi National University have achieved many remarkable results. Notably, the establishment of the High-Tech and Innovation Park (VNU-TIP) - a place where research institutes, science and technology enterprises, and leading domestic and foreign experts gather, aiming to develop areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology, healthcare and high-tech agriculture.

Recently, Hanoi National University has also established the Institute of Semiconductors and Advanced Materials under VNU-TIP and has been assigned by the Government to preside over two national key projects on designing, manufacturing and testing microchips with a total investment of VND 1,600 billion. In parallel, Hanoi National University is implementing four key science and technology programs in key areas such as semiconductor microchip technology, pharmaceuticals, synthetic biology and basic science, aiming to solve major problems of the country and businesses.
The university also proposed a list of 17 strategic technology products with a total budget of about 100 billion VND, focusing on key areas such as chip and semiconductor technology, biotechnology, new materials, artificial intelligence and robotics. These are areas expected to create breakthroughs in national science and technology, contributing to affirming the academic position and practical contribution ability of Hanoi National University.
At the conference, Hanoi National University announced agreements and cooperation contracts to implement science, technology and innovation tasks with partner enterprises. These agreements promote flexible and practical cooperation mechanisms, creating favorable conditions for commercializing science and technology products, and effectively forming and operating science and technology business models (spin-offs) in the university environment.

Hanoi National University also officially announced the Decision to establish the Institute of Semiconductors and Advanced Materials, the Institute of Quantum Technology, and the Institute for Research on Artificial Intelligence Applications in Sustainable Development under the High-Tech and Innovation Park. These research institutes are expected to create an ecosystem closely linked between research, training, technology transfer and innovation.
Within the framework of the conference, the leaders of Hanoi National University awarded the Hanoi National University Prize for Science and Technology in 2024 to a group of authors from the Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology for their work “Research on simultaneous treatment of ammonium and COD in wastewater using the Feammox process”. The award is held every 3 years to encourage and honor outstanding scientific and technological works or clusters of works, with a prize fund of 50 million VND/work.
On this occasion, nearly 150 scientists with outstanding achievements in scientific research in 2024 received Certificates of Merit from the Director of Hanoi National University.
