Since 5am on May 17, Tran Ngoc Vu, a student at Bach Mai Medical College, has been present at the Nhan Dan Newspaper office. He was one of the first 5 people in line to receive a special publication released on the occasion of the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. “I’m not very good at history, but patriotism and national pride are always in me. I like to collect publications like this to better understand the country,” Vu shared while holding the printed newspaper and a special supplement with the image of Uncle Ho reading Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Along with Vu, hundreds of people flocked to the open space of Nhan Dan Newspaper, facing Hoan Kiem Lake, where the Exhibition “Bright Name of the Person” is taking place from May 16 to 19, 2025. The exhibition is open free of charge from 9am to 5pm every day, a special activity in a series of events organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper to commemorate and honor the beloved leader of the nation.

From book to real life

Tran Le Nhi, a first-year student at Hanoi Capital University, was present at the exhibition with bright eyes. She said she was fascinated by the book “Blue Lotus” – considered the first historical novel about Uncle Ho – since she was in 5th grade and still keeps the habit of re-reading it.

“Today, I feel extremely proud to hold this special publication about Uncle Ho. The vivid images at the exhibition and in the supplement make me feel closer to Uncle Ho. I tell myself to try harder to learn his virtues,” Nhi shared.

The exhibition also welcomed many students eager to attend the event. Nguyen Thu Hoa, a student at Phuc Loi High School, took advantage of the morning to visit. She shared: “With these vivid publications, historical knowledge seems to have a new look, making me and my friends want to read more and learn more. History is no longer dry, but colorful, heroic and close.”

In addition to displaying many valuable images of Uncle Ho, from familiar moments to little-known works of art, the Exhibition also introduces a special supplement consisting of 2 printed pages, in which the highlight is a picture of Uncle Ho reading Nhan Dan Newspaper along with his immortal sayings. The special feature is that each supplement integrates a QR code, leading to the special page " Ho Chi Minh and the ideology that the People are the Root" on the digital platform of Nhan Dan Newspaper, creating a modern and vivid press experience.

The exhibition "Bright Name" consists of 3 parts:

1. Ho Chi Minh - Portrait of a man: Recreating his life journey and stature as a national liberation hero and world cultural celebrity.

2. The people's love for him: Recording Uncle Ho's image in the hearts of people across the country, works of art depict Uncle Ho's image.

3. Uncle Ho with Nhan Dan Newspaper: Recalling the special bond between the leader and the Party's mouthpiece, along with articles written by Uncle Ho himself published in Nhan Dan Newspaper over many periods.

Ms. Pham Thi Nguyet, a primary school teacher in Hoang Mai, shared: “I will bring the supplement to class for the students to see. Not everyone has the opportunity to come to the Exhibition in person, so I want them to feel the atmosphere through the pages of the newspaper. The students really like having a QR code to scan and discover more information. History becomes much more vivid this way.”

Brightening His Name : Emotional Interchange between the Young Generation and International Friends

Not only Vietnamese people, the event also attracted many international friends. Mr. HB Ryu, a tourist from Korea, said that he and his wife had had the opportunity to visit Vietnam many times and always loved Vietnamese culture and history. “I used to know President Ho Chi Minh as a hero of the Vietnamese people. And this time, when I got to hold in my hands the special supplement with a picture of Uncle Ho reading Nhan Dan Newspaper, perhaps my love for Vietnamese history was even more inspired. The publication design is very beautiful, nostalgic and full of traditional imprints. I think events like this help print newspapers affirm their own vitality in the digital age.”

Although he had just finished his night shift, he did not go home to rest but immediately went to the Exhibition to receive the supplement.

“As a lover of history, especially stories about Uncle Ho, I was very moved to see many young people present today. The vivid images and simple stories about Uncle Ho make history more familiar and easy to relate to. TikTok, print media, QR codes - all are connecting to bring history closer to the younger generation,” he shared.
