Spreading the value of research and application projects into practice

Two projects were awarded the 3rd Tran Dai Nghia Award (2025) including: "Hanging lake technology for collecting water from cliffs" by the group of authors: Associate Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Cao Minh, Institute of Earth Sciences, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Dr. Vu Van Bang, Institute of Water and Environmental Technology, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Engineer Nguyen Chi Ton, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Giang province.

The project "Research and development of medium voltage switchboard production" by the group of authors: Pham Dinh Thang, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Asia Industrial Engineering Joint Stock Company; Doan Ky Ba, Deputy General Director of Asia Industrial Engineering Joint Stock Company; Bui Van Dam, Head of Energy Department, Asia Industrial Engineering Joint Stock Company.

Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Tien Dung, Head of the Technology Application and Deployment Department, member of the Award Council, assessed that the two projects awarded this year are not only based on advanced science and technology, but are also highly appreciated for their practical applications in life. The project "Hanging lake technology to collect water from mountain cliffs" has special significance for highland areas, helping to solve the shortage of water for daily life and production in areas with difficult terrain, thereby contributing to stabilizing life, developing agriculture and preserving the cultural identity of the highlands.

The project "Research and development of medium voltage switchboard production" was highly appreciated by the Award Council for its innovation in the field of industry and electricity, making an important contribution to the process of mastering technology, localizing equipment, reducing dependence on imports, and at the same time improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in the field of electrical technology...

Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Tien Dung affirmed: “The criteria for selecting works to receive the Tran Dai Nghia Award combine both academic and applied research. Therefore, the Award Council encourages academic research scientists to coordinate with applied development scientists to put research results into practice.”

According to Professor, Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of the Academy, the awarding of the 3rd Tran Dai Nghia Award in 2025 marks the 10-year journey of the Tran Dai Nghia Award, with 4 organization periods and 3 award ceremonies and 8 outstanding works honored, creating a strong spread not only in the scientific community but also contributing to socio -economic development, ensuring security and national defense.

With the support of scientists, research units, application enterprises, and the attention and active support from press and media agencies, the Tran Dai Nghia Award will increasingly promote its role in connecting research and practice, between intelligence and sustainable development.

Therefore, the Academy hopes to continue to receive attention, support and spread information from press and media agencies, so that the Tran Dai Nghia Award can continue to promote its mission: Honoring scientific values ​​- Connecting practical applications - Contributing to building a strong and sustainably developed Vietnam to celebrate and honor the worthy contributions of Vietnamese scientists and innovators.

The Tran Dai Nghia Award is held every three years, awarded to domestic and foreign scientists with outstanding research in the fields of natural sciences and technology.

The Department of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) has officially recognized the Tran Dai Nghia Award as meeting all the conditions for trademark protection under the provisions of the Law on Intellectual Property. This is not only a recognition of the legal value and prestige of the Award but also a motivation for the Award Council to continue to maintain quality, transparency and objectivity throughout the organization and selection process.

The Award Ceremony will take place on May 16 at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology on the occasion of the Science and Technology Day and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
