The work "The Compassionate Arms" by author Dang Hong Long won third prize.
On the morning of May 3, the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Research Institute organized the opening ceremony of the exhibition and award ceremony of the Buddhist Wisdom Art Photography Contest: Human Dignity and Peace , at Lang Le Cultural Park (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).
The contest is one of the activities to celebrate the United Nations Vesak Day 2025 .
Nearly 1,450 entries
Mr. Doan Hoai Trung - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association - said that after more than 2 months of launching, the organizing committee received nearly 1,450 entries from 216 authors nationwide.
The works closely follow the six themes set forth by the organizers: Humanistic values in Buddhism, Peace and harmony, Buddhist cultural heritage, Influence of Buddhism on life, Honoring Vesak, Nature and environment.
The jury includes Venerable Thich Tam Duc - permanent deputy director of the Vietnam Institute of Buddhist Studies, Venerable Thich Nhat Tu - permanent deputy director of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association Nguyen Hong Nga (chairman of the jury), photographer Dong Duc Thanh, and photographer Doan Thi Tho.
The work Celebrating Buddha's Birthday at Vietnam National Temple by author Huynh Buu Tinh won second prize.
The work "Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc" by author Cao Thi Thanh Ha won second prize.
Awarded 12 prizes, worth nearly 115 million VND
The jury selected and awarded 12 prizes including: 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 6 consolation prizes, with a total value of prizes and photo royalties of nearly 115 million VND.
First prize was awarded to author Dinh Cong Tam for his work Buddhism in the digital age .
Two second prizes were awarded to author Cao Thi Thanh Ha with the work Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc and author Huynh Buu Tinh with the work Celebrating the Great Buddha's Birthday at Vietnam National Temple.
The three third prizes respectively went to the authors: Dang Hong Long with Compassionate Arms , Nguyen Hong with Floating Lanterns and Tu The Duy with Floating Lanterns .
In addition, the organizing committee also awarded six consolation prizes to the authors: Tran Ngoc Dong with Vietnam proudly receives the flag to organize the 2025 Vesak Festival , Bui Quoc Sy with Cool New Year , Nguyen Hong Quang Phuong with Towards the Flooded Area , Dao Kim Thanh with The One Who Breathes Life into Buddhist Wooden Statues , Nguyen Manh Hung with Song Tu Tay Pagoda on Truong Sa archipelago , Dinh Cong Tam with Lighting Candles in the Summer Retreat Season .

Author Dinh Cong Tam shared with Tuoi Tre Online : "I took a photo in early 2025 of monks learning about computers. I used photographic language, light, and camera angles to describe the access to technology of people in general, and monks practicing in particular."
The organizers said the winning works will be exhibited and published in photo books.
The Buddhist Wisdom Photo Exhibition: Human Dignity and Peace takes place from May 3 to 9 at Lang Le Cultural Park (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).
The work "Releasing flower lanterns" by author Nguyen Hong won third prize.
The work Hoa Dang by author Tu The Duy won third prize.
The work "Cool New Year" by author Bui Quoc Sy won the encouragement prize.
The work Song Tu Tay Pagoda on Truong Sa archipelago by Nguyen Manh Hung won the encouragement prize.
