In deep emotion and grief, from early morning, delegations of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front , officers and soldiers of the armed forces, along with a large number of officers, party members, and people from all walks of life in the capital and many provinces and cities across the country gathered at the Funeral House to attend the funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong; expressing gratitude and respect for the leader who devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese people.
With infinite sorrow, General Secretary To Lam wrote in the condolence book: "Deeply mourning comrade Tran Duc Luong - a staunch Communist Party member, a devoted and exemplary leader, an excellent son of the heroic homeland of Quang Ngai , rich in revolutionary tradition.
Comrade Tran Duc Luong devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. In all his positions, he always demonstrated steadfast political will, pure moral qualities, scientific and dedicated working methods; had a simple and modest lifestyle, was close to comrades, brothers, and the people... and was respected by comrades, brothers, friends, and the people.
Comrade's passing is a great loss to our Party, State and people.
I respectfully bow before the spirit of the comrade and send my deepest condolences to his family.
Farewell to former President Tran Duc Luong, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong wrote in the condolence book: “Comrade Tran Duc Luong was an outstanding leader of our Party and State, a shining example of dedication and wholehearted service to the Fatherland and the People. Writing in the condolence book for former President Tran Duc Luong, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh wrote: “Deeply mourning comrade Tran Duc Luong, an outstanding and loyal leader of our Party, State and People. I would like to express my deepest condolences to comrade Tran Duc Luong’s family for this painful loss.
Comrade Tran Duc Luong, at 88 years old and 66 years of Party membership, devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of our Party, State and People.
During his activities and leadership of the country, he always showed himself to be a leader with strategic vision, close to reality, and taking effectiveness as the highest measure.
His life, work and dedication are a shining example for cadres, soldiers and people to follow.
Learning from comrade Tran Duc Luong, we vow to do our best to contribute to the revolutionary cause of our Party and People, for the cause of a rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization!".
In emotion, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man wrote: “Deeply mourning comrade Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member and former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He made great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
During his participation in the revolution, the Party and the State trusted him and assigned him many important responsibilities. No matter what position he held, he wholeheartedly served the Revolution and the People; and was absolutely loyal to the Party.
Our Party, State and People will always respect the great contributions of Comrade. We respectfully pay our respects to Comrade's spirit. We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and the entire bereaved family of beloved Comrade Tran Duc Luong.

Throughout his revolutionary activities, he always paid special attention to the armed forces in general and the Vietnam People's Army in particular. * At the same time as the funeral for former President Tran Duc Luong took place at the National Funeral Home (Hanoi), the funeral for former President Tran Duc Luong was solemnly held at Thong Nhat Hall (Ho Chi Minh City) and Hall T50, Military Command of Quang Ngai Province, the hometown of comrade Tran Duc Luong. Many sentiments of regret and respect were written by the delegates in the condolence book in memory of former President Tran Duc Luong.
