Based on the proposed reports of communes and towns, the Fatherland Front Committee of Yen Son district has issued a Plan for the list of poor and near-poor households receiving housing support from 2022 to 2025. The total number of households requesting housing support is 662 temporary and dilapidated houses, with a total support budget of 30.2 billion VND (of which 546 houses are newly built and 116 houses are repaired). Poor and near-poor households have been building and repairing houses. Currently, departments and offices in the district regularly inspect and supervise the implementation, ensuring accuracy to each poor and near-poor household with housing difficulties who are eligible for support; not allowing loss or negativity; ensuring that poor and near-poor households have quality housing according to regulations.
Ms. Le Thi Hoa, Head of the District Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Yen Son District, said that, with the participation of the entire district's political system, the District Fatherland Front Committee and organizations mobilized members to help poor and near-poor households build new and repair houses. The Front maximized its ability to mobilize resources from the community, material suppliers and households, so that the construction and repair of new houses was on schedule and effective. From the beginning of 2024 to present, the District has supported the construction and repair of 192 houses for poor households, reaching 76.5% of the annual plan. Of which, 175 houses were supported for construction and repair and 17 houses were repaired.
Belonging to the poor household category, Mr. Thao The Mua's family, Mong ethnic group (in village 21, Lang Quan commune, Yen Son district), has a difficult life, so for many years, his family has had to live in a makeshift, dilapidated bamboo house. In 2024, implementing the housing support program for poor and near-poor households, his family received 50 million VND from Agribank Insurance Agency, Phu Tho Branch, to build a new, spacious house.
“During the time of building the house, the family received a lot of support both materially and spiritually from the local government. The villagers came to encourage and share so that the house could be completed soon. Now, the family lives in a solid house, so the rainy and stormy season is no longer scary. Thank you very much for the policies of the Party and the State…”, Mr. Thao The Mua shared.
We visited Mr. Vuong Van Duong's family in Hung Quoc village (Doi Binh commune, Yen Son district) in 2023. In 2023, his family received 85 million VND from Viettel Tuyen Quang to build a house, and with a loan from the Social Policy Bank, his family was able to build a new, spacious house. Life has now stabilized. Family members are all excited and grateful for the attention of the government for creating conditions for poor people in the mountainous areas to "settle down" and strive to escape poverty soon.
Along with the implementation of supporting the construction of houses for poor households under the National Target Program on Poverty Reduction and the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, through the district Fatherland Front, unions, localities, many units, organizations and individuals have joined hands to support the construction of houses for poor and near-poor households. Thereby, contributing to helping poor people in mountainous areas to soon stabilize their residence, actively work, produce and develop the local socio-economy.
According to Ms. Le Thi Hoa (Head of the District Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Yen Son District), along with other housing support policies of the State, from 2021 to present, through the Front channel, organizations, individuals, and philanthropists have been mobilized to support the renovation and repair of 949 houses for poor households (including 849 renovations and 100 repairs) worth over 23.4 billion VND; supporting materials converted into money worth over 2.5 billion VND and more than 11,200 working days. In the coming time, the District Fatherland Front Committee will continue to coordinate with departments, branches, and organizations to call on people from all walks of life, businesses, civil servants, and public employees to join hands to contribute, to have more resources to support families with housing difficulties...
It can be said that the special attention of the Party and State, the cooperation and responsibility of all levels, sectors and localities have been helping thousands of poor and near-poor households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to have housing and stabilize their lives. Thereby, contributing to helping mountainous districts and ethnic minority areas accelerate the process of poverty reduction, ensure social security, strengthen the great solidarity of ethnic groups, and enhance the trust of ethnic people in the Party and State.
