Accordingly, the phenomenon of rainwater leaking from the glass roof to the floor of the departure lounge on the 3rd floor of the terminal appeared when the project was first put into use. Immediately after recording the incident, the Appraisal Department directed an on-site inspection and requested ACV to review the problems arising during the process of putting the project into operation. At the same time, this unit requested timely solutions to handle and fix the problem so as not to affect the operation and exploitation of the project.
The Appraisal Department emphasized that ACV needs to pay special attention to thoroughly handling the situation of rainwater leaking from the glass roof to the floor of the waiting room area; and develop a plan for safe operations during the rainy and stormy season.
In addition, the investor must promptly complete the remaining work as committed and promptly report the implementation results, as well as the resolution of any problems arising during the operation and exploitation process to the Standing Agency of the State Inspection Council on construction acceptance.
Earlier, on the afternoon of May 7, rainwater leaked from the glass roof onto the floor of the departure lounge on the 3rd floor of Terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat International Airport. This was the time when many passengers were waiting to check in. According to a video clip recorded by passengers that went viral on social media, as soon as the incident occurred, airport cleaning staff were mobilized to use buckets and brooms to clean up and sweep up the water.
Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport has an investment capital of 11,000 billion VND, and started construction in August 2022. After more than 20 months of construction "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", "through holidays, through Tet", Terminal T3 was completed 2 months ahead of schedule and was inaugurated on April 19, contributing to reducing the load on Terminal T1, increasing the total operating capacity of Tan Son Nhat Airport to 50 million passengers per year.
This is the largest domestic terminal in the country with a designed capacity of 20 million passengers/year, serving 7,000 passengers/peak hour. The terminal consists of one basement and four upper floors, with a total floor area of 112,500 m². The design separates the departure and arrival levels to optimize traffic flow. The operating system includes 90 traditional check-in counters, 20 automatic baggage drop counters, 42 check-in kiosks, 27 aircraft gates (13 telescopic gates and 14 bus gates).
The terminal also has 6 departure baggage handling islands, 10 arrival baggage return islands, 25 security control gates (8 automatic control gates), and separate areas for VIP, business and priority passengers.
The highlight of Terminal T3 is that passengers can check in at the kiosk, drop off their luggage and go through the automatic control gate (e-gate). In particular, the terminal applies chip-embedded citizen identification cards and facial recognition technology in the check-in process.
